'My information': Richard Keys shares what he's heard about Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool

Liverpool are back at the Premier League summit under Arne Slot after a battling 2-1 victory at home to Brighton.

Slot has impressed David Moyes this season, with the Liverpool manager expertly filling the gap left by Jurgen Klopp in the summer.

Mohamed Salah netted the winner against the Seagulls, who went 1-0 ahead at Anfield after just 14 minutes.

But Cody Gakpo cancelled out Ferdi Kadioglu’s goal in the 70th minute, with Salah completing the comeback two minutes later.

But worry does remain among the Anfield faithful about his future at Liverpool, with Salah’s deal set to expire next summer.

Richard Keys has now provided an update on the Egyptian international, writing in his latest blog entry: “As Arsenal appear to be running in mud, Liverpool impress more and more.

Brighton were terrific most of the afternoon and might have got out of Anfield with a win but for two minutes and two seconds of madness.

“That’s how long it took Liverpool to overturn Brighton’s lead and they weren’t really ever in trouble after that.

I keep saying there will be sterner tests to come for Liverpool – and they keep pushing back on that brushing aside every challenge they’ve faced.

“Mo Salah’s latest cryptic tweet has caused a bit of a stir, which is exactly what he wanted of course.

Two seasons back he was definitely leaving the club – that was until Liverpool had a dramatic of mind  – sold [Sadio] Mane and decided to make Salah the highest paid player at the club.

“The article in Saturday’s Mail, based on Simon Hughes’ new book Chasing Salah, must have made interesting reading for some.

Liverpool fans used to hammer me for it.

My information now is that Salah wants to stay, but it’ll take a 3-year deal to settle him down.”

Salah messaged the Liverpool supporters following the home win against Brighton, where the winger secured all three points with a superb, trademark strike.

He once again showed just how clinical he is in the final third, and indeed just how much he can step up when it really matters.

Such an attitude is exactly what Slot needs to enjoy success at Anfield, with Salah therefore key to any silverware the Dutchman may clinch going forward.

But question marks certainly remain over where the winger will be playing his football next season, particularly given Salah’s links with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Remarkably, his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in the same contract mess, with fans in the dark about their futures on Merseyside.
