Liverpool secured one of their most impressive wins of the season with a 1-0 result away to PSG despite having just one shot on target.

In a dictionary definition smash-and-grab win for the Reds, Harvey Elliott’s late strike in Paris was enough to secure Liverpool a famous win in the French capital, with PSG now needing to win by two goals at Anfield next week if they’re to best the Reds.

Yet Slot did something with Mohamed Salah that surprised former Crystal Palace star Damien Delaney, even if the decision ended up leading Liverpool to a famous win.

Speaking on Virgin Media Sports, the former Republic of Ireland international noted how he almost ‘fell off’ his chair when it was shown that Salah was coming off for Elliott, with the Liverpool midfielder then proceeding to score just mere moments after coming on.

Delaney said: “I nearly fell off my chair when I heard Salah was coming off, in a game like this, you have to keep him on because he’s capable of moments like this, but Harvey Elliott arrives right on cue.”

With Daniel Sturridge lauding Elliott for his finish against PSG, the goal was a special one for the Liverpool youngster, who this season has suffered something of an identity crisis since the arrival of Slot.

However, last night’s heroics will go a long way in Elliott finding a place for himself in the Liverpool squad once again, and for Slot’s decision to bring off Salah, the tactical choice was one that proved to be the right one given the eventual outcome.

Indeed, Salah has shown he only needs a split-second to create magic with Liverpool this season, yet the forward couldn’t do a thing last night in Paris along with the majority of his teammates, who will be shocked that they came away from a win.
