Newcastle have seen a second player be ruled out of next week's Carabao Cup final in a huge blow to Eddie Howe's hopes of ending the club's trophy drought.
The Magpies' last piece of domestic silverware was the 1955 FA Cup and Howe's side will face Liverpool at Wembley a week on Sunday with the chance to end that wait.
That blow comes in the form of Lewis Hall, who is expected to miss the final with an ankle injury.
But following last week's defeat to Liverpool, in which he again played all 90 minutes, Hall felt some discomfort in his ankle.
He was then referred to a specialist, with the results of the scans being delivered on Tuesday.
According to the Chronicle, the scans show that Hall's ankle damage means he is likely to miss the final against Liverpool.
First-choice left-back Lewis Hall has been ruled out of the final with an ankle injury.
Howe has revealed he expects both the defender and the striker to play against Liverpool.
"It's an ankle problem that Lewis picked up after the Liverpool game.
