Mikel Arteta has sent out a strong message to critics and detractors of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign.

As the Premier League season nears its climax, Arsenal remains Liverpool’s main title challenger despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the weekend.

The Reds are a whopping 11 points clear of the Gunners, with some pundits suggesting that the title race is now effectively over.

However, their biggest obstacle may not be their rivals but their own injury woes.

The team is facing a mini-crisis in attack, with key players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli sidelined.

Martinelli’s hamstring injury against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat has only worsened the situation.

This challenge is even more daunting given that Arsenal opted not to strengthen their attacking options during the January transfer window, leaving them with limited depth at a crucial stage of the season.

But all of this has not dissuaded the Gunners boss.

What did Mikel Arteta say?

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta refused to rule his side out of the title race and claimed he only stop aiming for the league title if it was over his dead body:

“The thing is that when you are there, you want more and more and more.

I’m not going to stop.

Over my dead body, the Spaniard said as quoted by Hayters TV.

“We (cannot) stop thinking that way and stop putting everything we possibly can to increase that probability of us winning and being better than the opponent and hitting that performance level and the standards constantly, regardless of what happens.”

He was later pressed on whether he honestly believes the London side can still usurp Liverpool at this late stage, his answer was emphatic:

“If not I will go home then guys,” he said to the journalists in the room.

“Mathematically it’s possible.

We have to continue to go.”

“The difficulty is higher than three days ago but if we want to win the Premier League we’re going to have to do something special, with the circumstances we have, and probably do something that no one else has done in the history of the Premier League.”

Arsenal face a daunting run of three games against Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, and then Chelsea in a sequence that could make or break the rest of their season.
