UFC superstar Paddy Pimblett has revealed that he will delay flying to America for his fight against Michael Chandler so he can attend the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton on April 2.

Pimblett, 30, is set to face Chandler in a five-round co-main event of UFC 314 at Miami's Kaseya Center on April 12.

The Huyton-born Mixed Martial Artist [22-3-0] has not fought since defeating King Green at UFC 304 in July and knows that victory over Chandler [23-9-0] will move him into the top 10 of the lightweight division.

But Pimblett, an avid Liverpool supporter who last month appeared on the ECHO's Blood Red podcast, has said that he will delay flying to America for the bout to watch Liverpool's Premier League clash against Everton at Anfield at the start of April.

After Wednesday's 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield moved Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, Arne Slot's side know they need just 21 points from the remaining 10 games to win a second league title in five years.

And speaking to TNT Sports before Wednesday's game, Pimblett admitted he is slightly adjusting his fight plans for UFC 314 so he can watch Liverpool's pursuit of Premier League glory.

"No, normally go out 12-14 days before, but the fight is on the 12th of April and Liverpool play Everton the Wednesday before, the 2nd of April, so I'm going to fly the next day," said Pimblett.

Asked about his preparation for his fight with Chandler, Pimblett added: "Yeah, training is going well.
