The parents of a young kickboxer with "the heart of a lion" have called on Reds fans to unite in a massive round of applause, celebrating every year of their son's short life.
Alex Eastwood, 15, died on July 2 last year, three days after suffering a head injury while competing in a match in Wigan.
His parents Nikita and Stephen Eastwood have called on Liverpool FC fans to show their support in memory of their beloved son at the 15th minute of the Liverpool v Wolves match this Sunday, February 16.
In a statement they said: "This is our son Alex Eastwood who was taken from us on July 2 while competing in the kickboxing competition.
"He was a world champion five times at the age of 15, he was not only a fighter but a beautiful soul who was loved by all who knew him.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could share this and help get Alex the applause he deserves."
Alex, from Fazakerley, was a member of the Hurricane Combat and Fitness club, where he achieved a black belt in kickboxing.
He was due to compete in the kickboxing World Championships in Portugal in October 2024, having already secured six championship wins in his short but mighty career.
He had fought three individual rounds of a bout at a kickboxing gym in Platt Bridge, Wigan, before becoming seriously unwell on June 29 2024.
Sadly, his condition deteriorated and he died on July 2.
Following his death, the Y11 Archbishop Beck Catholic College pupil saved the lives of six other people through organ donation.
