Paul Joyce has cast doubt over Darwin Nunez and his long-term future at Anfield.
His inconsistent form for Liverpool has persisted this season, despite occasional flashes of brilliance.
Since arriving from Benfica in 2022 for an initial £64 million (rising to £85 million with add-ons), Nunez has scored 24 goals in 86 Premier League appearances—a 0.41 goals-per-game ratio.
He was lambasted for his high-profile miss against Aston Villa, and even responded to the backlash on social media.
Now Paul Joyce has reported that it could may well be the Uruguayan’s final few months on Merseyside.
Writing for the Times, the journalist revealed:
“Darwin Núñez, overlooked entirely at the Etihad, looks likely to leave in the summer with his progress not having matched expectations so forward reinforcements will presumably arrive.”
This matches the same tune of Fabrizio Romano, with the Italian journalist believing quite strongly that Nunez will leave in the summer:
“I think Darwin Nunez might leave Liverpool?
It’s a concrete possibility,” he wrote in a Q&A session recently.
Is Paul Joyce confirming Darwin Nunez’s time is up at Anfield?
