Paul Joyce has provided a worrying Joe Gomez injury update.
The 27-year-old was forced off the pitch just 10 minutes into the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth Argyle, marking a disappointing return from his previous hamstring injury sustained in December against West Ham.
Ahead of the Merseyside derby, Arne Slot said on the defender:
“Joe, it’s the same leg where he had the injury last time?
We are still assessing but he will definitely not be available tomorrow.”
Now Paul Joyce has confirmed the same hamstring issue could keep him out for rest of season.
Writing for the Times, the Merseyside reporter stated:
“Joe Gomez is facing another lengthy lay-off for Liverpool with the club to send him for a further assessment on the hamstring injury that has cast a cloud over his season.”
“He is set to miss a significant chunk of the remainder of the campaign having been troubled by serious injuries during his ten-year Anfield career.”
