Paul Merson believes Manchester City have 'no chance' of getting a result at home against Liverpool.

Liverpool currently have an eight-point lead, but their advantage could be reduced to five points should Arsenal overcome West Ham United at home.

The Reds head to the Etihad Stadium looking to pick up their first win in the league since 2015 but come up against a wounded City side after a torrid title defence and their Champions League exit in midweek.

"It was an embarrassing night at the Bernabeu for Manchester City [on Wednesday]," Merson told Sportskeeda.

When they won 4-0 against Newcastle, some people thought they were back but that’s not true and they know it now.

"I think Liverpool will rip City apart here.

Once they beat City, I expect Liverpool to win against Newcastle and Southampton.

"Now that’s 13 points out of a possible 15 against arguably three of the top six teams in the league.

Prediction: Manchester City 1-3 Liverpool."

The encounter with City is the latest instalment in a gruelling period for the Premier League leaders after tough tests against Everton and Wolves.

Liverpool return to Anfield on Wednesday when they take on Newcastle United following their meeting with the reigning champions on Sunday.

Arsenal still have to visit Merseyside to face Liverpool in May but prior to that, travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton at the beginning of April.
