The final weekend of the January transfer window is unlikely to see any movement at Liverpool.
With a fully fit squad having fired them to the top of the Premier League and Champions League, the Reds are happy with their lot.
Supporters would love to see an addition or two at Anfield, especially after such a quiet summer, but the truth is that Liverpool have not needed to do anything rash during the winter market.
Nevertheless, rewind back to January 9th and it had looked like the Reds may be about to make a sensational swoop for then Napoli star Khvicha Kvarataskhelia.
As Rousing The Kop revealed three weeks ago, Liverpool were weighing up a move for Kvaratskhelia after Napoli signalled an openness to selling the Georgian.
However, PSG got themselves to the front of the queue and quickly wrapped up a deal with the Italians.
With Kvaratskhelia now plying his trade in Paris, journalist James Pearce has attempted to explain exactly what went on from Liverpool’s end.

Although PSG were early favourites to sign him – and ultimately got their man – RTK understands that Kvaratskhelia was open to joining Liverpool.
And after the ever reliable David Ornstein also broke that the Reds were considering a deal for the 23-year-old, fans were left puzzled as to why Liverpool never made their move.

But speaking on The Redmen TV, Pearce says that the Reds simply felt the fee was too high to justify getting into a bidding war over.
“The initial story that David Ornstein broke was certainly correct, that he’s a player Liverpool have admired for a number of years,” said the journalist.

“Of course people see a bit of transfer news, especially in a month where there wasn’t much going on and think there’s no smoke without fire, it must be happening.”
“But actually if you read the originally story that David wrote, it said he’s admired by Liverpool and they could consider if Napoli are willing to sell, but the big caveat is that it’s not an area of the squad Liverpool are actively looking to strengthen.
“I think the money involved ultimately meant it wouldn’t have made sense for Liverpool to rival PSG for his signature,” Pearce added.
“Some people don’t want to hear that.”
Another player who Liverpool were linked with this January was Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas.
Reports suggested that Liverpool were looking at Tzimas after his goal scoring exploits in the German second division.
