Manchester City has been one of the most dominant teams in Premier League history.
Over the past few years, they have built a squad filled with world-class talent, winning multiple league titles under Pep Guardiola.
But despite their success, there has always been talk about how they achieved it.
Some fans believe City’s rise was purely due to their footballing quality, while others argue that financial power played the biggest role.
For Liverpool fans, this has always been a heated discussion.
Their team, built through smart transfers and patience, has had to go toe-to-toe with City in the title race multiple times.
And while the rivalry has produced some of the best moments in Premier League history, the 115 financial charges hanging over City have left a big question mark.
Did Liverpool lose out on more league titles because of unfair advantages?
Or is City’s dominance purely down to Guardiola’s tactical brilliance?
The wait for answers is almost over.
Guardiola has now confirmed that a verdict on City’s case is just around the corner.
Pep Guardiola reveals Manchester City 115 charges verdict is just weeks away
When asked about the ongoing investigation, Guardiola made it clear that City expects a decision soon.
“In one month, I think there will be a verdict and a sentence,” he said speaking to Sky Sports.
“After that, we will see my opinion of what happened so far.”
With the possibility of a transfer ban looming, some have suggested City’s massive £180m spending in the January window was a reaction to that.
But Guardiola denied it.
“My words will not convince people,” he said.
“I know with this club it is always ‘just about the money’.”
City signed four players in the winter window, Abdoukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush, and Nico Gonzales.
Guardiola insisted these signings were about improving the squad, not fear of punishment.
“But in the past five years, we are the last among the top six for net spend,” he argued.
“Even after what we have spent in this transfer window, we are away from Chelsea, (Manchester) United, Arsenal, Tottenham.
Even from Liverpool.”
“The only reason why is we sell a lot in the last seasons.”
For Liverpool fans, none of this changes the bigger question.
They can only wait to see how it all unfolds.
