Liverpool could secure  their 20th league title this weekend when they host Tottenham Hotspur in the last game of Match Day 34 of this season’s Premier League.

What started out as a joke for many rival fans will soon become a reality as Liverpool needs just one point to clinch the title.

Despite what rival fans will have you believe, the Reds have battled hard and deserve the immortality coming their way.

They have been the best team in the division by a distant mile, and their consistency all season has proven it.

Arne Slot’s side have been solid in defence and attack, scoring the most goals (75) and conceding the second fewest in the league (31, two more than Arsenal).

Liverpool have already won as many Premier League matches this season as they did in 2023-24 (24) with five fixtures remaining.

Victory against Spurs will also see them equal their points tally from the previous campaign (82).

Having won 24 out of their first 33 games (D7, L2), they need just one point from their upcoming game against Tottenham to be mathematically confirmed as champions.

Recent history suggests they have what it takes to vanquish Spurs, as Slot’s men are currently on a 15-match unbeaten head-to-head record against Tottenham at Anfield (W11, D4).

They have lost just one of their last 30 Premier League home games against Spurs.

Ahead of what could be a historic afternoon for Liverpool, Slot provided some updates on the fitness of some of his players.

Speaking in his pre-Tottenham press conference, Slot confirmed that Bradley is getting ‘closer’ to being able to play full matches:

“He’s getting closer to 90 minutes, and it’s normal if you play twice, 70 minutes, the chance is getting closer.

Let’s wait and see if he can play.”

“It’s going to be important for him to play many games in a row if he wants to become a better player.”

“But we have Trent here, and that’s the only reason he hasn’t done so already.

That might be his next step, but as long as Trent is here, it might be a difficult step for him to make.”

On Joe Gomez, the Dutchman confirmed the defender is still out and gave a timeline for his return:

“If his recovery goes well, he would be able to (play) in the last two games of the season.

But is getting closer.”

Slot has not rotated much this season, and with nine out of his eleven players in his last two starting XI fit and available, the Dutchman is likely to name a team featuring the core of the players that secured the wins over West Ham and Leicester City.

Predicted Liverpool XI vs Tottenham: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Szoblszlai, Mac Allister, Gakpo, Diaz, Salah.
