After another disappointing outing last weekend, Liverpool will return to action this weekend as they attempt to bounce back from what has been a difficult few weeks.
Arne Slot’s side are set to face the Hammers at Anfield this Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 PM BST.
The Reds enter the tie on the back of a disappointing result, after a 3-2 loss to Fulham in their last outing.
Despite taking the lead at Craven Cottage last Sunday, Arne Slot’s men conceded three first-half goals to lose their second league game of the season.
The loss was Liverpool’s third in the last four games (W1), suggesting that the Reds are imploding towards the end of the season.
But unlike the defeats in the UEFA Champions League and the Carabao Cup final that extinguished those trophy bids, Liverpool will see any setbacks in the Premier League as simply delaying the inevitable since they still boast an 11-point lead over Arsenal pre-round with just seven games remaining.
Four of those games are at Anfield, and the Reds will be confident of getting over the line on their home form alone, having dropped points just three times on their own turf in the league this season (W12, D2, L1).
The arrival of West Ham should have the home fans in good spirits since Liverpool have lost just one of their last 57 home H2Hs (W42, D14), winning each of the last nine.
Meanwhile, West Ham arrive in less than favourable form, having won none of their last four league outings (D2, L2).
The Hammers remain in 16th place and are on course for their joint-worst Premier League finish since returning to the division in 2012.
Having already lost twice to Liverpool this season by a combined score of 10-1, they will be desperate to get something here.
However, hitting the road doesn’t appear as it’ll do West Ham any favours as they’ve won just four of their last 21 away games in all competitions (D5, L12).
Arne Slot provided some injury updates ahead of the meeting on Sunday.
The Liverpool manager revealed that Liverpool No.1 Alisson Becker is fit to start in goal, after missing the Reds’ last two games.
“Yes, he is,” Slot replied when asked if the Brazilian is fully recovered.
Slot also revealed that Conor Bradley is fit to start against West Ham, after his impressive performance from the bench in the loss to Fulham.
“Of course it’s a boost, it’s always a boost when quality players come back,” Slot said of Bradley’s return.
“Especially quality players in that position, because I think Curtis Jones is a quality player but it’s not his favourite position.
“So to have a player in his favourite position is always – not always – but might be better for the team.
And Conor has done so well for us this season, just like Trent [Alexander-Arnold].
But when Trent then isn’t there, you always hope to look behind you and see that Conor is available.
“But then if he isn’t, we have to solve that problem.
And we are not the only team in this league that has had these problems.
He did it quite well to very well, in my opinion, twice.
“But now to have Conor back, I think we all would make the same decision, and that’s playing Conor in that position.”
Considering Slot’s update at the press conference and the players available for Liverpool, here is our predicted XI ahead of the game on Sunday.
Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Jota.
