Arsenal have sensationally sealed a deal for Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, according to the Daily Mail.
The Euro 2024-winning midfielder was the subject of intense interest from Liverpool during the summer but decided to say in Spain.
Not deterred from a move to England he will instead link up with his fellow Basque Mikel Arteta, joining in the summer rather than the current January window.
It's claimed a £51million deal is 'virtually completed' with Arsenal chasing Zubimendi for over a year.
The 25-year-old central midfielder was involved in a transfer saga of sorts with Liverpool during the 2024 transfer window, but he ended up rejecting the Reds to stay in Spain.
He's since been linked as a Rodri replacement for Manchester City and Toni Kroos sub-in for Real Madrid, but it looks like Arsenal have instead won the battle.

Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Arsenal over versatile defender and midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko, talkSPORT understands.
The Bundesliga giants are looking to seal an initial loan deal for the 28-year-old Ukrainian.

A deal could spell the end of Dortmund's pursuit of Renato Veiga.
BVB were in talks with Chelsea over the Portuguese defender, but the Blues are looking for a £20million permanent deal rather than a loan.

Sources at the London Stadium claim they were willing to pay £40million for Duran, but that is nowhere close to Villa's valuation for the talented Columbian.
talkSPORT's Chief Football Correspondent Alex Crook believes it would take 'big money' to prise Duran away from Villa, but Arsenal are also a club to keep an eye on.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to extend his stint in the Saudi Pro League with discussions over a new deal at an advanced stage, talkSPORT understands.
The Al Nassr striker joined the club in January 2023 in a deal that made him the highest paid footballer of all-time on £167.9million per-year.
With a contract that's set to expire in the summer, he will extend those current terms with a salary increase.
Ronaldo will also be announced as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, something that was agreed upon his arrival.
There were rumours that the 39-year-old could move to Saudi rivals Al Hilal to compete in the summer's Club World Cup, but the club's CEO has told talkSPORT those stories are 'science fiction'.

All Premier League teams have been declared compliant for 2023/24 Profitability and Sustainability Rules, but Leicester remain in dispute over the previous season.
Despite earlier rumblings that the Foxes were in trouble, all top flight teams have had their accounts approved after the December 31 submission deadline.
Yet Leicester remain in conflict with the league over 2022/23 - a case that is still ongoing.
Leicester won the initial dispute in September, but the league have appealed that decision.
In a statement, the Premier League said: “Issues as to the jurisdiction of the Premier League over Leicester City Football Club in relation to PSR compliance are currently the subject of confidential arbitration proceedings.
“Accordingly, neither the league nor the club will make any further comment at this stage about any aspect of the club’s compliance or otherwise with any of the PSR or related rules, save to say that no complaint has been brought against Leicester by the league for any breach of the PSRs for the period ending Season 2023-24.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that his side could be looking for a new striker.
The Gunners have struggled for goals in recent weeks, with Kai Havertz proving to be ineffective in an FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United last time out.
Things got worse with an injury to Gabriel Jesus, which could take him out for the remainder of the season.
Ahead of taking north London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League, Arteta was asked about a new striker, and said: "My answer remains the same.
"We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad.
We are looking, we are trying.
"We have to believe that we will bring in someone that will make us better."

Christopher Nkunku wants to join Bayern Munich from Chelsea and has a verbal agreement in place, talkSPORT understands.

Graham Potter believes Jarrod Bowen is ahead of schedule in his return from injury at West Ham.
The Hammers captain suffered a fractured foot in their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at the end of 2024.
There were initial fears that Bowen could sidelined for a lengthy period of time, but there appears to be positivity over his recovery.
On Monday, Potter said: "I think if you speak to Jarrod, he will try to tell you he's ahead of schedule, for sure.
"He's doing everything he can to get on the pitch as soon as possible.
"That situation is progressing and I didn’t want to put it at risk at this stage."

West Ham are interested in Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoyini.
The Hammers have not approached Forest with an offer for the 27-year-old striker.
Awoyini has scored just once in the Premier League this season and has only started twice, so could be looking for more game time in the top-flight.
New boss Graham Potter has admitted that there is a ‘logical rationale’ to sign a forward in January, given the injuries to some of their key players.
Jarrod Bowen and Michael Antonio are notable absentees up front for the Hammers.

talkSPORT understands that Borussia Dortmund have opened talks with Chelsea over Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Blues are already looking to take Renato Veiga from Stamford Bridge, and now, they are looking at the England youth international as well.
Chelsea are open to allowing Chukwuemeka to depart the club on loan this month, and he could end up at sister club Strasbourg if a player is recalled.
Despite not appearing in the Premier League this season and only playing four times in the Europa Conference League, Enzo Maresca's side are seeking £40 million to part with Chukwuemeka permanently.
That would see them double their money on the 21-year-old after buying him from Aston Villa for £20m.

Ruud van Nistelrooy looks set to receive a boost to his squad, as talkSPORT understands Leicester are closing in on the signing of Woyo Coulibaly.
The Foxes are set to spend £3 million on the right-back.
They had looked to get Kyle Walker-Peters, but the £7m asking fee proved to be too steep.
Walker-Peters is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree a new deal at St Mary's, so he could still depart this month in a cut-price deal.
But he won't be going to the King Power.

talkSPORT understands that Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt is set to join Hull on loan for the remainder of the season.
The forward moved to Elland Road in 2020 from Wigan and big things were expected of him, with Marcelo Bielsa a big fan.
However, things haven't quite worked out for Gelhardt and this will be his second loan move after spending some time at Sunderland in 2023.
The 22-year-old is currently undergoing a medical with the Tigers, and the deal should be wrapped up imminently.
