Arsenal have gone four consecutive top-flight games without a win for the first time in 19 months after being held to a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The Gunners missed the chance to leapfrog the Blues in third and are now nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

To compound their issues, talisman Bukayo Saka was forced off with an injury that will throw doubt over his involvement with England.

Elsewhere, Ruud van Nistelrooy concluded his stint as Manchester United's interim manager with a 3-0 win over Leicester.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has given a worrying update on the fitness of England duo Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

Rice was a surprise starter at Stamford Bridge having broken his toe against Newcastle.

The £105million midfielder missed the trip to San Siro in the Champions League in midweek after being unable to train.

However, Rice played through the pain barrier this evening but hobbled off after 70 minutes.

Ten minutes later Saka followed suit after being on the wrong end of a hefty challenge from Marc Cucurella.

Responding to the injuries picked up by both Saka and Rice, Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: “They don’t look good to be fair.

"They weren’t able to finish the game, not good.”

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella was awarded the Player of the Match award - mostly for his battles up against Bukayo Saka.

The Spaniard was asked post-match by Sky Sports what he has to ensure he does to make sure he can nullify the Arsenal winger.

Pedro Neto butted in to joke: 'Be Marc Cucurella!'

The latter was much more humble when given the microphone as, on Saka, he said: "He is a top player, we have played a lot of times.

We know he is a special talent and do my work and help my team.

 "I tried to show the best of me."

This was Mikel Arteta's reaction to that last-gasp Arsenal chance that Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz failed to convert.

Arsenal have gone four consecutive Premier League games without a win for the first time April 2023 (D2 L2).

The Gunners had picked up all three points in 21 of their previous 25 league matches before this (D3 L1).

And it all proved too much for Arteta, who couldn't contain his emotions on the Stamford Bridge touchline.

THE GUNNERS FAIL TO WIN IT AT THE DEATH!!

The final kick of the game looked to be a joyous moment for the visitors as William Saliba sprung a poor Chelsea offside trap.

The Frenchman drilled a squared low ball across the face of goal that only needed the slightest of touches from Kai Havertz to turn home.

But Leandro Trossard at full stretch gets a toe onto Saliba's pass at the near post and only succeeds in diverting it away from his teammate.

Mikel Arteta sinks to his knees in despair as the final whistle is sounded mere seconds later.

His side are now nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after failing to see out yet another win.

Gabriel Martinelli's second-half goal had put Arsenal on course for a much-need three victory.

HOW HAS LEANDRO TROSSARD NOT WON IT!!

It's a huge chance minutes from the 90-minute mark as Gabriel Jesus is released to the byline and drills a teasing squared cross.

Mikel Merino makes a darting run to the near post and does well to flick the pass goalwards but is denied by a fine Robert Sanchez save.

The loose ball falls kindly for Trossard yards out but the Belgian gets underneath his effort and somehow clears the crossbar.

There's a chance he may have been spared by an offside flag against Jesus in the build-up but the linesman on the pitch kept his down.

And because Trossard never scored we'll never know what VAR would have done!

It's going from bad to worse for Mikel Arteta!

Saka has gone down hurt after being clattered into by Marc Cucurella, who is shown a yellow card.

Not that that will be much of a consolation to Arsenal and Saka, with the latter having to be withdrawn for Gabriel Jesus.

It's not good news for England either ahead of the final international break of the year, less than 24 hours after Trent Alexander-Arnold also picked up a fitness issue.

Nicolas Jackson has the ball in the net but he's denied!

It's the same goal Kai Havertz had an effort chalked off in the first half but this one is much more straightforward with no use for VAR.

The Senegalese striker was at least two yards behind the Arsenal backline when he was played through one-on-one.

Jackson does finish well to stroke beyond David Raya but instantly clocks the raised offside flag before he can celebrate.

A BOLT FROM THE BLUE!!!

Where has that come from?

Neto scores a screamer to haul the home side level and strike a dagger into Arsenal's hearts!

Enzo Fernandez has only been on the pitch two minutes after replacing Romeo Lavia and his first involvement gets him an assist.

The simplest of his Premier League career mind - he rolls the ball into Neto's path as the Portuguese made a darting run from the right.

The former Wolves winger then fires a low-driven shot that spins away from David Raya and into the bottom corner.

Neto has scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea, while it's his first in the competition overall since February against Manchester United (for Wolves).

It was also his first from outside the box in the top-flight since his very first such goal on New Year's Day 2020 for Wolves v Watford.

THE BRAZILIAN HAS SCORED THIS TIME!!

Martin Odegaard dinks a delightful cross to the back post to unlock the Chelsea defence.

Levi Colwill failed to push out with the rest of his backline and plays Martinelli on from the far side.

The latter controls the cross from a tight angle but catches out Robert Sanchez by squeezing the ball in at his near post.

Martinell has scored his first Premier League goal against Chelsea since January 2020, ending a run of seven league appearances without netting against them in the competition.

Only Cole Palmer (11) and Mo Salah (9) have more Premier League assists from open play than Martin Ødegaard (8) in 2024.

Kai Havertz's return to Stamford Bridge is going from bad to worse!

The German, who took blow to the head in the 1-0 defeat against Inter on Tuesday, is nursing another cut from the head.

Marc Cucurella brought Michael Oliver's attention to the blood, knowing in doing so, Havertz would be forced off.

The Arsenal forward attempts to get treatment on the pitch but the ref forces him to leave the field as he's not in immediate danger.

To add insult to injury, Havertz is then shown a yellow card for time-wasting and is jeered when he leaves the pitch.

He returns with a bandage wrapped around his head.

We are back underway for the second 45 minutes!

Arsenal have failed to score in the first half in five of their last six Premier League games against Chelsea.

The Gunners have only gone on to win two of their last 14 Premier League games against Chelsea that have been level at halftime.

However, both of those have been under Mikel Arteta in the most recent two (4-2 and 1-0 in 2022).

Meanwhile, two of Chelsea's last three Premier League games at Stamford Bridge have been 0-0 at half-time.

That is as many as their previous 18 beforehand.

Surely something will have to give for both sides?

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has reflected on the club's disappointing 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.

The South Korean, who returned from injury in midweek, was nullified by the Tractor Boys en route to the home loss.

Spurs had been on a recent fine run domestically, having dumped Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup before thumping Champions League contenders Aston Villa 4-1 last weekend.

However, the north Londoners were second-best as Ipswich secured their first Premier League victory since 2002.

Reacting to the match afterwards, Son told Tottenham's club media: “You’ve got to believe even more.

“I think we could be a bright and really strong team and with those kind of games you have to think very mentally strong way because I think like Villa you have to go really strong.

“But then you get Ipswich it’s the same competition, the same opponent, everybody is expecting a win but in football you never get a free win; you have to earn it.

“We need to be more disciplined for sure.

The structure and the plan we have to follow it and this is the main part of how we can be even stronger."

The whistle goes and the two sides head into the break level after Kai Havertz's goal was ruled out for offside.

Chelsea have had their flurry of chances as well, with Cole Palmer overseeing some wayward free-kicks and Malo Gusto heading over.

The Blues have already picked up three yellow cards, one of them being for dissent by Pedro Neto.

Chelsea have been shown more cards for dissent (9) than any other side in the Premier League this season.

THE FORMER BLUE HAS THE BALL IN THE NET AT STAMFORD BRIDGE!

Havertz shushes the fans who used to cheer him after prodding past Robert Sanchez but it's the players who are more furious!

Cole Palmer leads the Chelsea protests against the Declan Rice free-kick that had been taken in the build-up quickly.

Rice took advantage of Moises Caicedo having his back turned to fire into Havertz.

The German was then allowed to turn into the penalty area and finish past Sanchez.

However, VAR comes to Chelsea's rescue for a different reason - Havertz was in an offside position when the pass was played.

NO GOAL!!

Big chances for both sides in the first 20 minutes but it remains goalless!

First, the home side should find themselves in front after Pedro Neto's deep cross was attacked by a flying Malo Gusto.

However, the Frenchman sent his header rising over the crossbar from close range and hurt himself in the process.

Gusto is fine to continue but he gets caught out of position from the restart after Levi Colwill loses the ball in a bad area.

Bukayo Saka has a shot from the edge of the area which is blocked but it falls kindly for Gabriel Martinelli on the opposite flank.

The Brazilian is unmarked inside the box but he fires straight at Robert Sanchez who keeps it out.

Like I said, the responsibility lies with me to fix it."

Bruno Fernandes has certainly found his form since the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

The Portuguese superstar was making his 250th appearance for Manchester United as he offered a goal and an assist in their Premier League clash with Leicester.

Man United have played four games since he left, with Ruud van Nistelrooy taking caretaker charge of the Red Devils.

In that time, Fernandes has scored a staggering four goals and offered two assists in those fixtures.

It takes his tally to 100 goal involvements in 170 Premier League matches - taking just one game more than Cristiano Ronaldo to do so.

By comparison, the midfielder failed to score in his last 13 matches under Ten Hag.

Speaking after the 3-0 win over Leicester, Fernandes said: “It was a long time that I wasn’t scoring and now goals are coming in the last few games.

We wanted to say goodbye as a manager for him properly because he did good things for us.

“It’s a new era, a new manager means everything changes but what hasn’t changed is that this club has to get back to where it belongs."

JOELINTON HAS COMPLETED THE COMEBACK!

Alexander Isak had restored parity between the two sides ten minutes after the restart.

It was the Swede's fourth Premier League goal against Forest, only netting more often in the competition against West Ham (5) and Tottenham (5)

Isak then helps himself to an assist to put Newcastle in front following a lightning Magpies counter-attack.

He releases Joelinton on the overlap down the right and the Brazilian does brilliantly to chop inside and find the far corner.

Elsewhere, Rodrigo Bentancur has pulled a goal back for Tottenham against Ipswich after heading home from a Pedro Porro corner.

Huge news coming out of both camps for this Super Sunday clash!

First for Chelsea, Cole Palmer is fit to start having been on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Lisandro Martinez last week.

The England international hasn't trained all week but has passed a late fitness test to be included at Stamford Bridge.

However, Arsenal have arrived in west London armed with their own double injury boost.

Martin Odegaard makes his first Premier League start since September having come off the bench in midweek.

The Gunners captain suffered ankle ligament damage on international duty with Norway after starting just three top-flight games.

He's joined by record signing Declan Rice, who wasn't fit to feature in the 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan but is included from the start here.

THE TRACTOR BOYS HAVE DOUBLED THEIR LEAD!!

At home under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have won 69.2 per cent of Premier League games in which they've conceded the first goal.

Their last three the Lilywhites have all fought back to win - Ipswich are doing all they can to ensure the fourth time's not the charm!

It's a brilliant Ipswich counter-attack that sees goalscorer Sammi Szmodics slip into space towards the byline.

He fizzes across a low cross that sizzles down the line and drives a low ball that Guglielmo Vicario parries straight into Radu Dragusin.

The Tottenham defender can't adjust his body quickly enough and almost scores an own-goal as the ricochet is taken past his own goalkeeper.

However, Delap nips in ahead of him on the line to volley into the roof of the net.

Pop superstar Ed Sheeran - who sponsors his boyhood Ipswich - is among the travelling fans watching on and he loved that one!

Bruno Fernandes will claim it but this one might be an own-goal!

Either way, the Red Devils have doubled their lead!

It's Noussair Mazraoui into Fernandes once again but this time it's a brilliant cross from the former that catches Leicester cold.

Fernandes completely fluffs his header but gets enough contact on the ball to steer it into Victor Kristiansen challenging behind him.

And unfortunately for the Danish left back it ricochets off him and is diverted into the back of the net.

INCREDIBLE ACROBATIC EFFORT HAS STUNNED SPURS!!

The home side have fallen behind at home to their relegation-threatened rivals and Ange Postecoglou can't believe it.

Again, it comes from a simple throw-in to Jens Cajuste, who is not closed down quickly enough by Radu Dragusin.

Instead, he's given the freedom to stand up a cross from the right and Liam Delap gets enough contact on his header to flick it on.

Szmodics is left unmarked in the six-yard area and skillfully hooks the ball back over his own head as he falls to the ground.

It's not the best bicycle kick in the world but it's on target and is enough to beat Guglielmo Vicario.

THE GOALS ARE FLYING IN AROUND THE PREMIER LEAGUE!

It's such a poor one from a Newcastle point of view and Eddie Howe will be furious his side switch off from a simple free-kick.

Anthony Elanga stands up a cross from outside the box on the right and Murillo is unchallenged as he powers a header past Nick Pope.

That is the Brazilian defender's first goal for Nottingham Forest on his 47th appearance for the club.

No side have scored more goals via set pieces (excl. pens) than Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this season (5 - level with Arsenal and Aston Villa).
