Jamie Carragher believes that would be best for both Marcus Rashford and Manchester United if he were to leave the club.
This comment follows from the England international being dropped against Manchester City on Sunday.
He wasn't injured, with Ruben Amorim confirming it was a tactical move to leave him out.
And the Sky Sports pundit believes the time has come for Rashford to move on.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, he said: "I think in some ways, it feels a bigger decision than it actually is [leaving out Rashford].
"It looks like a big message but is Marcus Rashford in the best XI?
"I think we talk about Marcus Rashford too much.
He's been a really good player for Manchester United, but it is time for him to leave the club.
"But whether there will be any takers, who knows.
"I think a parting of the ways is inevitable."

Newcastle United defender Sven Botman is playing his first match in around nine months this evening.
The Dutchman suffered a fully torn ACL during a 2-0 defeat for Newcastle in the FA Cup against Manchester City.
This followed a partial tear of the same ligament in September 2023, but he elected not to have surgery then.
But after fully tearing the ACL, Botman had surgery and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
But after a long time out, he starts for the Toon's Under-21s in their Premier League 2 clash against Chelsea.
Given Eddie Howe only has three first-team centre-backs available, he will be hoping Botman gets through the tie unscathed and bags some valuable minutes.

Chris Kamara has announced that he will be back on TV for Amazon Prime on Boxing Day to join talkSPORT Breakfast host Jeff Stelling.
The former player became one of the country's most loved pundits during his time working with Stelling on Soccer Saturday.
In April 2022, he was diagnosed with speech apraxia and had to cruelly retire.
Apraxia is a neurological disorder that makes it extremely hard to speak, and Kamara has openly admitted just how difficult it was to deal with.
Things have massively improved for Kamara since his diagnosis, and he will reunite with Stelling for Nottingham Forest's home clash against Tottenham.
In a tweet, he said: "Best phone call ever this afternoon.
"Inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day reporting back to the unbelievable @JeffStelling in the studio.
I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you.
"I am back."

The final match in the Premier League this gameweek sees Bournemouth welcome West Ham, and it's live on talkSPORT.
The Cherries have already beaten Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City at home this season, while the Irons have won their last two matches on a Monday.
Julen Lopetegui eased a lot of pressure off himself last week with a 2-1 home victory over Wolves.
Despite this, the Hammers are still 14th, just six points above the drop zone.
Meanwhile, a win for Bournemouth by two or more goals would take them above Manchester City.
talkSPORT's live and exclusive coverage will be presented by Adrian Durham, with commentary coming from Sam Matterface and former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy.

Darren Bent has been left confused by Graham Potter not taking on a new job in management.
There were two managerial casualties in the Premier League on Sunday, with Wolves sacking Gary O'Neil and Southampton axing Russell Martin.
Potter has been linked with a fair few jobs and potential vacancies since he was sacked by Chelsea last year, but he remains unemployed.
"The fact that Potter hasn't been given an opportunity yet surpises me," Bent said on Monday's Drive show.
"But when he said no to Ajax and his style of play suited them, it has to be the contract situation."

Managerless Southampton have long-standing interest in former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand, talkSPORT understands.
The Saints are scouring the overseas free agent market for a potential replacement for the sacked Russell Martin.
Reliable sources have confirmed the south coast side have previously considered hiring Hjulmand, who led Denmark to the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, assistant to Ralph Hassenhutl when he was in charge at St Mary's, has also been discussed but his compensation package would be a barrier.
Hjulmand stepped down as Denmark manager after the last Euros having also guided them to the World Cup in Qatar and is on West Ham's list of potential Julen Lopetegui replacements.
He is understood to be open to taking a Premier League job.

Following Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin's sackings from Wolves and Southampton respectively, there are only two English managers in the Premier League.
They are Newcastle's Eddie Howe and Everton's Sean Dyche.
That's a very low number compared to our European equivalents.
In Serie A, there are 16 Italian managers, while La Liga boasts 15 Spanish manager.
Ligue 1 has 10 French manager and the Bundesliga has nine German managers.

Ben Godfrey could make a return to the Premier League in January, talkSPORT understands.
The 26-year-old only joined Atalanta from Everton for £11million in June, but has made just four substitute appearances for the club.
A number of Premier League clubs are believed to be keen on the defender.
Any move back to English football would likely be on loan.
Godfrey made 93 appearances for the Toffees between 2020 and 2024.

Man City have sadly announced that a fan has passed away following a medical incident at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
City were hosting Manchester United - with the Red Devils winning 2-1.
A City statement read: "Manchester City are aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday's match.
Mary's last night were a step too far.
"The banners were classless," he told talkSPORT's White and Jordan.
"He gave them that day at Wembley."
When it comes to finding a successor for the man who led Southampton to play-off final glory, talkSPORT understands Sheffield Wednesday's Danny Rohl is being considered.
Steve Cooper is also now available after being sacked by Leicester.
But Crook has also name-dropped another unexpected candidate - current Southampton player Adam Lallana.
"Adam Lallana wants to be a manager, but it might be too soon," he said.

Fans have spotted Pep Guardiola and John Stones' unseen reaction to Man City conceding a last minute penalty.
And the duo clearly knew they'd thrown a win away in that moment.
Matheus Nunes needlessly clattered into Amad Diallo in the box when the Manchester United winger had been pushed wide of the goal.
Footage posted to social media shows Guardiola and Stones, who was waiting to come on, both raising their hands to their head as soon as Nunes made contact with Diallo.
Both knew what was coming when Diallo hit the ground, as Anthony Taylor immediately pointed to the spot and Bruno Fernandes converted to start Man United's comeback.

Nicolas Jackson scored once again on Sunday in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Brentford.
And he's overtaken Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah in a notable stat as a result.
Jackson now has the most non-penalty goals in the Premier League since start of the season 2023/24 with 23.
Salah has reached 22 in the same time frame.

It's been nearly two years since Dele Alli played football, but the former Tottenham star may have been given a lifeline.
Alli has struggled with fitness issues and is currently a free agent following his release at Everton in the summer.
He hasn't played since February 2023 after injuring his groin while at Turkish outfit Besiktas.
But he was spotted in the stands at Serie A side Como's 2-0 against Roma this weekend.
The Italian side is managed by former Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas.
He said of the player: "I got to know him yesterday.
"I don’t want to talk much about this, but perhaps there’s a chance that he will start training with us after Christmas."

Florian Wirtz has extended his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.
The midfielder had been linked with a move to Manchester City this January as Pep Guardiola looks to kick start his side's season and add some reinforcements.
According to Kicker, though, the German international will extend beyond 2027 to spend at least one more year with the club.
Wirtz won the Bundesliga with Leverkusen last season.
He's made 24 appearances this season, scoring 11 goals and bagging five assists.

Speaking of the Manchester derby, former Manchester City youth players Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho are shining for Chelsea.
Both players started against Brentford in the 2-1 win over the west London rivals on Sunday evening to put them two points off league leaders Liverpool, albeit having played an extra game.
Palmer posted a snap of the pair slumped on the pitch after the final whistle with huge smiles on their faces.
The caption reads: "1%" with a red heart and fingers crossed emoji.
Hilariously, if you zoom out on those images, Marc Cucurella is earning his second yellow card and earning a one match ban.
I don't think Palmer or Sancho knew that at the time!

Former Manchester United star Steve Bruce has joined talkSPORT Breakfast this morning to react to that dramatic late win at the Etihad.
He had plenty of praise for match winner Amad Diallo, hailing him as the best player on the pitch.
City meanwhile have no lost eight in 11 - but Bruce backs Pep Guardiola to turn it round.
The Blackpool manager said: "For the first time in years it's been a tough time for the blue half.
"I'm sure they'll get out of it.
"He's such an unbelievable manager he'll get out of it I'm sure."

Enzo Maresca continued to insist Chelsea cannot win the Premier League title after they moved to within two points of the summit with a 2-1 win over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
The head coach cited the visitors' goal scored in the 90th minute which set up a tense finish as evidence his team cannot compete for the crown but after a dominant display to earn a fifth league win in a row it was increasingly difficult not to see them as the main challengers to leaders Liverpool.
Marc Cucurella headed his second goal for the club just before half-time then Nicolas Jackson looked to have finished off Brentford when he lashed inside the near post in the 80th minute, before Bryan Mbeumo took advantage of a defensive slip to jangle home fans' nerves.
"No matter how many games we are going to win, I think we're not ready to compete for the title," said Maresca.
