That's a big win for Liverpool!

In truth, they should have been out of sight at half time, but they managed to hold off a big spell of pressure from the Eagles to win and extend their lead at the top of the table.

Diogo Jota scored the winner early in the first half, and from there until the 70th minute, the Reds were in control and missed chances through Jota and Mohamed Salah to extend the lead.

Oliver Glasner introduced Jean-Philippe Mateta, and he was excellent.

The Eagles saw Eberechi Eze miss two big chances, while they will feel they should have had a penalty when Virgil van Dijk grabbed Marc Guehi's hand in the box.

The referee and VAR said no before Alisson Becker went off injured with what looked to be a hamstring injury.

Debutant Vitezslav Jaros came on and managed to help Liverpool hold on.

What an opportunity for Eberechi Eze!

Jean-Philippe Mateta wins the ball in his half, and it's a three on two.

He strides through and lays a pass to Eze on the left.

He takes the strike first time and whips it straight into the new Liverpool goalkeeper's arms, who can't believe his luck.

Wow, this is huge because Alisson Becker is injured and can't continue.

He looks to simply clear a ball and immediately collapses to the floor, indicating he's pulled his hamstring.

He can't continue, but there is no Caiomhin Kelleher, so Vitezslav Jaros enters the field for his Premier League debut.

This could be game-defining.

And Scott Minto is worried about the goalkeeper.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "You could see it as soon as he kicked the ball away, he sat down and started beating the ground with his hand - he knows that not just him coming off today, that’s a pulled hamstring.

"I’m worried for Liverpool, he could be off for a good few weeks."

Well, this game has totally changed now.

Oliver Glasner has introduced Jean-Philippe Mateta, and he's causing some problems.

Alisson Becker has denied Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.

However, the Guehi header could easily have been a penalty because Virgil va Dijk had a hold of the England international's hand.

VAR had a look but deemed it not long enough to be a penalty, but that looked a clear spot kick.

Meanwhile, on the penalty, Scott Minto and Sam Matterface thought it had to be a spot kick.

However, the Premier League have now revealed their reason it wasn't...

While the Crystal Palace versus Liverpool game continues, let us have a look at the team news from Arsenal's home game against Southampton.

Remember, this one is live on talkSPORT 2, and Mikel Arteta has been forced to shuffle his team.

There is no Jurrien Timber or Ben White while Takehiro Tomiyasu is only fit enough for the bench, meaning Thomas Partey is at right-back.

This sees Kai Havertz come into midfield and Gabriel Jesus takes his place leading the line.

But in more positive news for the Gunners, Raheem Sterling makes his first Premier League start for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, after being thrashed by Bournemouth, Russell Martin switches to a back five and brings Ryan Manning, Joe Aribo, Ross Stewart and Kyle Walker-Peters into his team.

Arsenal: Raya, Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Rice, Havertz, Jorginho, Saka, Sterling, Jesus

Subs: Neto, Kiwior, Martinelli, Tomiyasu, Merino, Buttler-Oyedeji, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri

Southampton: Ramsdale, Sugawara, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Walker-Peters, Manning, Downes, Aribo, Fernandes, Dibling, Stewart

Subs: McCarthy, Armstrong, Lallana, Bree, Diaz, Archer, Taylor, Ugochukwu, Onuachu

Lovely move from the visitors ends with Trent Alexander-Arnold rifling a low shot at the near post that Dean Henderson blocks.

It started with Curtis Jones finding Diogo Jota.

He worked it into Dominik Szoboszlai, who found Mohamed Salah in the box.

He decided not to shoot and found the overlapping Alexander-Arnold, who was denied from a tight angle.

Moments later, Henderson was called into more action as he blocked Salah's close-range shot after a magnificent pass from Virgil van Dijk.

We are back underway for the second 45 minutes, and there has a been a change, but not for the hosts.

Alexis Mac Allister has been taken off for Dominik Szoboszlai.

He was booked near the end of the first 45 minutes, so that would explain why he was withdrawn, or it could be a knock.

The second half has started.

Scott Minto had his say on the change live on talkSPORT.

He said: “I’m not 100 per cent surprised.

“I’m a massive, massive fan of Mac Allister - I thought he was the second-best player for Argentina at the World Cup, I rate him very, very highly - but I thought he was quite poor in that first half.

“I mentioned a couple of times about the simple balls for him that he gave away.

“There was a game midweek an early kick-off today, and so there will be some rotation, but sometimes the players that do play aren’t quite at it themselves.

“When you’ve already made the rotation and you’ve got a player like Szoboszlai who can come on, it’s the perfect thing to do.

”Sam Matterface added: “Mac Allister is sitting on the bench watching on, I don't think he’s injured.

“So I think that can go down as another ruthless decision from Arne Slot, who is not afraid to make changes when he feels they are necessary.”

Well, that's the end of the first 45 minutes, and it's been very easy for the Reds.

Apart from the first 22 seconds when the Eagles scored a disallowed goal, Arne Slot's men have been in total control.

The only thing that will disappoint him is that his side don't have more goals because they've dominated totally.

Their one goal came from Diogo Jota as he stabbed Cody Gakpo's cross into the back of the net.

Jota should have scored again, while Dean Henderson has denied Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Oliver Glasner has some team talk ahead, though he will be encouraged by Ismaila Sarr having a shot saved by Alisson Becker at the end of the half - Palace's only shot of the game.

However, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 142 Premier League games when ahead at half time, with only 13 draws.

How on earth isn't that 2-0?

Ryan Gravenberch does brilliantly on the right to weave his way into the box.

He looks up and squares a pass for Diogo Jota who is all alone on the penalty spot.

He makes contact with his heel rather than the sidefoot, and the ball flies wide of the target, but it doesn't even go out because the shot is that bad

That was a sitter, and Arne Slot knows it!

This is in danger of getting messy for the hosts because they aren't in the game at all.

Adam Wharton gifts possession to Trent Alexander-Arnold on the edge of the box.

He drives in a strike that Dean Henderson tips around the post.

From the resulting corner, Alexander-Arnold whips a great cross into the box that Cody Gakpo flicks over the top of the bar.

But Scott Minto is worried.

Speaking on talkSPORT's live commentary, he said: "Palace need to be careful - they're really lacking in confidence now and they're trying passes that aren't there.

Crystal Palace started well and have looked dangerous going into the Liverpool box.

To score two goals now to beat this Liverpool team is going to be really tough."

Dream start for Palace denied by the offside flag!

Adam Wharton wins the ball in midfield and slides a lovely pass down the right for Ismaila Sarr.

The winger rolls a cross into the box and Eddie Nketiah scores, but he went too early, and he's offside.

If that goal had counted, it would have been 22 seconds.

Mikel Arteta said he has no problem with his players talking publicly about Arsenal seeking to end their 21-year wait for the Premier League title this season.

Bukayo Saka said following Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League win against Paris St Germain that he believes this is the season the team will throw off the frustration of twice finishing runners-up to Manchester City to become champions for the first time since 2004.

The Gunners came within seconds of defeating City at the Etihad in September, conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw, but nevertheless are unbeaten after six matches and sit third, level on points with the second-placed champions.

"They (the players) are free to express their feelings," said Arteta.

We begin at Selhurst Park, as talkSPORT brings you live and exclusive commentary of Crystal Palace vs Liverpool at 12.30pm.

"I know it sounds cliche and most of you United fans will be tired of it, but no one is more disappointed than myself with my own moment.

"Even through this moment, I appreciate all of you that had positive messages of belief in me and the team."

Ryan Gravenberch has admitted even he's been surprised by his Liverpool performances since changing role under Arne Slot.

The 22-year-old has been one of the standout Premier League midfielders this season under the guidance of his Dutch compatriot.

It marks a drastic turnaround from his first season at Anfield, where Gravenberch struggled to become a regular under Jurgen Klopp.

The £34million man was used in one of Klopp's advanced No.8 roles but has been transformed as a ball-playing No.6 under Slot.

Speaking to club media, Gravenberch said: "When I first spoke with the coach he said to me: 'I see you as a No.8 like last season, but I want to try you as a No.6 as well'… I said to him: 'Of course, we can do it!' and the rest is history.

Put him there, two rottweilers, and put [Harry] Maguire in the middle and create a bit of solidity going to Villa Park.

“But I don't know if the manager’s really got it in his locker to want to play that way.”

talkSPORT revealed in October 2023 that the substance found in Paul Pogba's system was DHEA, which boosts naturally produced testosterone.

That can be found in supplements, and it was down to the midfielder and his team to find the product to show how it got into his body.

CAS' final judgement that slashed his suspension to 18 months confirmed that the Frenchman did inadvertently take DHEA.

Ingesting the testosterone booster by any means is still punishment-worthy as it is on WADA's banned list, but the lack of intent behind it has seen Pogba's ban curtailed.

It reaffirms the views of French football journalist Julian Laurens, who told talkSPORT in February that he doesn’t believe Pogba intentionally doped.

He said: “I’ve known Paul for a very long time now and I know it’s a cliche but I can say with my hand on my heart that he’s not that kind of guy, he really isn’t.”

He continued: “His defence has always been the same, he’s got his friend in Miami who’s a doctor, he goes to Miami a lot and has a property there with his family.

“His doctor friend gave him some food supplements just to take, there was no hint of doping there, there was no hint of, ‘be careful that might be a product that’s banned’.

“He just said, ‘take that and while you’re preparing for the season it will help you’ and that’s it.

“According to Paul he took the supplement not knowing what it was and it turned out the supplement contained the testosterone DHEA.”

Paul Pogba has had his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months following an appeal from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The former Manchester United star can start training with Juventus from January 2025, and play matches in March.

Pogba was provisionally suspended in September 2023 after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone in his system.

talkSPORT revealed at the time that the substance found in his system was DHEA, which boosts naturally produced testosterone.

He was randomly tested after Juve's first match of the 2023/24 season, a 3-0 win at Udinese on August 20, 2023.

Pogba was an unused substitute in that game but had two cameo outings against Bologna and Empoli before his ban was announced.

The 31-year-old faced not being able to play until March 2027 had his appeal to CAS had not been upheld.

Arne Slot has joked he would have to be a 'stupid manager' to complain about 12:30pm kick-offs ahead of Liverpool's upcoming clash.

The Reds take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in Saturday's early fixture - live on talkSPORT - less than 72 hours after their Champions League win over Bologna.

Slot's predecessor Jurgen Klopp had a particular hatred for the 12:30pm slot.

However, speaking in his press conference on Friday, the Dutchman said: "I think the league [Eredivisie] I come from, they are more aware and try to help teams in Europe.

"But to be fair to English FA, our schedule is tight so it is difficult.

"It has a lot to do with TV stations, it feels like I do an interview every day.
