talkSPORT understands that James Tavernier is contemplating leaving Rangers.

The right-back and club captain was subjected to abuse in the aftermath of the 3-0 defeat to Celtic at the weekend.

The 32-year-old has interest from Turkey and Qatar, with their transfer windows still open.

Tavernier joined Rangers in 2015 from Wigan for £250,000, and he's gone on to make 467 appearances for the Gers.

Incredibly, he's scored 125 goals and set up a further 131.

But after being criticised in person by a section of Rangers supporters, he could move on.

Alejandro Garnacho completed a childhood dream overnight as he set up Paulo Dybala for a goal in Argentina's 3-0 win over Chile.

Garancho was a huge fan of the Roma star when he was growing up and when Dybala was at Juventus.

There was a time when Dybala was considered one of the best attacking talents in the world, and judging by Garnacho's shirt from 2016, the Manchester United winger was a huge fan.

But given he is just 20, Garnacho has had the opportunity to play with Dybala, which is huge.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month after just three games.

The Dutchman has started perfectly in the Premier League, winning all three matches and conceding no goals.

However, they are second on goals scored due to Manchester City thrashing Ipswich 5-1.

The Reds beat the Tractor Boys 2-0 before winning 2-0 at home against Brentford and then travelling to Old Trafford and thrashing Manchester United 3-0, which is a result that is sure to have got fans on board.

Overall, it's been a great start for Slot.

The other nominees for August's Manager of the Month are Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta and Fabian Hurzeler.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke an incredible milestone last night as he hit his 900th career goal.

The superstar striker scored 34 minutes into Portugal's 2-1 Nations League win over Croatia.

He's the first player in football to achieve that number of goals as he made 131 for Portugal at international level.

It was an excellent goal as well, as he volleyed in from Nuno Mendes' whipped cross.

But he isn't done there, and he's openly admitted he wants to make it to 1000 career goals, and that mission starts on Sunday against Scotland.

The 39-year-old will most likely lead the line again for Roberto Martinez's side as they welcome the Tartan Army for a Nations League encounter.

Chris Jurasek has departed his role as chief executive officer at Chelsea just 15 months into his role at Stamford Bridge.

Jurasek was appointed in 2023 having moved over from Clearlake Capital, who co-own Chelsea alongside chairman Todd Boehly.

The club also confirmed Jason Gannon, who joined as Chelsea's chief operating officer in October last year, will replace Jurasek.

However, sections of Chelsea's fanbase won't be too disappointed to see Jusarek depart the club - especially after he once longed for three points from a Carabao Cup fixture.

Jurasek found himself on the wrong side of several supporters when he oversaw the cutting of away travel subsidies on coach travel in August 2023.

In a scathing statement, the Chelsea Supporters' Trust (CST) labelled Jurasek as 'tone deaf' and looked forward to what Gannon would offer as his replacement.

"The CST first met Mr Jurasek in August 2023 ahead of the League Cup tie vs AFC Wimbledon," the statement read.

"During the feisty meeting, he hoped that the team performed well that night and secured three points...

this set the manner for his tone deaf tenure as CEO in which he made no effort to build a relationship with any supporter group.

"The CST looks forward to working with Jason Gannon as he is promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer.

"This is a positive change that the club should use to rebuild the trust and confidence of supporters."

A bombshell report has claimed Fulham missed out on a deadline day move after the player fled the scene halfway through his medical.

French outlet L'Equipe reports Fulham were poised to land Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah in an estimated £16m deal, with the forward landing in London for a medical.

However, according to the report, Nuamah felt he had been forced out the exit door from Lyon and was not keen on departing the club, given they would be competing in the Europa League this season.

It also suggested Nuamah was in tears over the course of the day, such was his desire to stay in France.

The 20-year-old managed to complete the first part of his medical, but when it came to the final steps he had disappeared into thin air.

L'Equipe claims not even Nuamah's agent could track him down, ultimately leading to the deal's collapse.

The report states Lyon owner John Textor later issued a letter of apology to Nuamah, claiming the Ghanaian has a place at the club.

Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah's standout early-season form has shown why footballers must get proper rest periods.

That is the view from FIFPro board member and chief executive of the English players’ union Maheta Molango.

Haaland and Salah have a combined 13 goal contributions across just six Premier League games after not playing in international tournaments this summer.

In contrast, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer are all unavailable for England duty this break - with only the latter enjoying any sort of good form so far this season.

Global players’ union FIFPro latest report found that more than half of the 1,500 players surveyed 'faced excessive or high workload demands'.

“There are two clear examples in England,” Molango said.

They look shattered, they looked tired even before they started the season and that is very worrying.

“And this season will be the defining season…the season where no matter how you look at it, it just won’t make any sense.”

Federico Chiesa is currently training with Liverpool’s under-21 side ahead of his first session with his new teammates next week.

The Italy international only officially completed his Merseyside move two days before the end of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old signed a four-year deal on a cut-price £10million deal, with a further £2.5m in add-ons, from Juventus.

Having been frozen out by the Old Lady all summer, Chiesa is lacking match sharpness and watched Liverpool's 3-0 win over Manchester United from the Old Trafford stands despite being registered in time to be involved.

As a result, the 51-cap Italian, who was the star of the Azzurri's Euro 2020 triumph, opted against joining up with his national team.

Instead, the winger has been using the break to become acclimatised to his new surroundings as part of Liverpool's U21 contingent.

Chiesa will then join the non-international members of Arne Slot's senior squad at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby on Monday.

Kieran Tierney was a shock inclusion in Arsenal's Champions League squad list.

On a day in which London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham have made surprising snubs ahead of their respective European campaigns, Scottish left-back Tierney has been included in the Gunners’ 23-man list for UEFA's top-tier tournament.

The defender hasn't played under Mikel Arteta since a Community Shield triumph over Manchester City in August 2023.

Tierney spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and was absent from Arsenal's pre-season following an injury he sustained playing for the Tartan Army at Euro 2024.

Three matches into the new season and the 27-year-old hasn’t featured in a single matchday squad for Arsenal.

But he has been included in Europe, with Arteta already having Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, and Oleksandr Zinchenko as options in Tierney's position.

Ange Postecoglou has brutally left Djed Spence out of his Europa League squad for the upcoming group stages.

The Tottenham boss had been full of praise for the defender for overcoming attitude problems this summer.

Spence has struggled to settle at Spurs since his £20million switch from Middlesbrough in July 2022.

Th 24-year-old has not been able to replicate the form he exhibited on loan for Nottingham Forest in the season they secured promotion back to the Premier League.

After dismal stints at Rennes, Leeds and Genoa since January 2023, Spence looked to have had no future at Tottenham upon his return to pre-season.

But he earned praise for the way in which he worked his way back into Postecoglou's thinking ahead of the new season.

Spence, who made late cameos in Tottenham's first two Premier League games, has now has suffered a huge setback in his bid for more regular game time.

Following the permanent sales of Oliver Skipp and Troy Parrot, Spurs only have two of UEFA's required four club-trained players - Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman.

This has forced the north Londoners to reduce their squad to 23 players, with Spence and Sergio Reguilon missing out on selection.

If Tottenham qualify for the knockout rounds then both players have a chance of returning in the revised list.

Cole Palmer is a surprise absentee from Chelsea's 27-man squad that has been named for their UEFA Conference League campaign.

The Blues' two-legged playoff round triumph over Servette were the only games England star Palmer hasn't started this season.

The Ballon d'Or nominee did appear as a substitute in both matches however, as Enzo Maresca's side scraped through 3-2 on aggregate.

Palmer won't play any part in the newly-named league phase, that will pit Chelsea against the likes of Gent, Panathinaikos, Noah, Heidenheim, Astana and Shamrock Rovers.

The 22-year-old has scored one goal and registered four assists in three Premier League starts this campaign.

His absence from any European games until 2025 alongside Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana are thought to be in relation to load management.

Palmer was recently forced to withdraw from England's squad through injury, with the latter two also struggling with fitness issues.

Anthony Martial's future continues to heat up as he has been reportedly approached by a second club in a matter of days.

The 28-year-old has been a free agent since being released by Manchester United at the end of last season.

The Frenchman is available to join any club outside of the transfer window as a result and appears in no rush to sort out his future.

Having been contacted by Greek outfit AEK Athens, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Martial could be heading to Brazil instead.

Flamengo are said to have approached the striker over an agreement after their star forward, Pedro, suffered an ACL injury this week in training with Selecao.

talkSPORT's Gabby Agbonlahor has delivered a withering verdict over Manchester United flop Antony.

The Brazilian was an unused substitute in the club's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday and has been linked with a loan move to Fenerbahce before the Turkish window closes.

Antony remains the Red Devils' second-most expensive signing ever but has struggled to find his feet since moving to Old Trafford from Ajax for £86million in 2022.

The winger has scored just 11 goals and provided five assists from 83 appearances, and found the net only once in 29 Premier League outings last season.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Agbonlahor said: “He’s been a bit of a shambles hasn’t he, let’s be honest.

“He needs to move.

He’s not going to get any game time at Manchester United and they’re going to lose so much money the day they sell him.

“He’s not even worth half of what they bought him for at the moment.

“The whole thing, him being signed and his performance in the Premier League – it’s a shambles.”

Mikel Arteta has a key managerial quality that can’t be taught, according to former Arsenal player Carl Jenkinson.

Free agent Jenkinson, who joined talkSPORT Drive in the studio on Wednesday, played with Arteta during his time with the Gunners.

Asked if he could see Arteta was going to be a manager in the future, the 32-year-old said: “Yeah, Arteta has an aura you can’t manufacture if you know what I mean.

“The way he speaks and when he walks in the room and talks, you listen.

“Obviously he has the football knowledge to go along with it, but that’s something you can’t sort of teach.”

Jenkinson continued: “He just had that aura.

If he spoke, you listened.”

Chelsea legend John Terry has predicted Rio Ngumoha to have a bright future following his move to Liverpool.

The 16-year-old attacker was finally unveiled at Anfield on Wednesday after the Reds passed the Premier League’s five-step review required when a youngster moves between two category-one academies.

Ngumoha first made his intention to swap Chelsea for Liverpool in July but had to wait months for the paperwork to be sanctioned.

The England youth international rejected the Blues' scholarship offer in favour of emulating the pathway of Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley and Trey Nyoni on Merseyside.

Ngumoha turned out for the west Londoners' U21 team at just 15, and was the player of the tournament when the U16 side were crowned national champions last October.

And former Three Lions and Chelsea captain Terry is better placed than most to admit what a huge loss the teen is to his old side.

Terry, who is currently a coach in the Stamford Bridge academy, heaped praise on the 2008-born star when reacting to the news.

Replying to a post confirming Ngumoha's Liverpool transfer, he wrote: "This boy is and will be a top top player."

On a separate post from Ngumoha's own account, Terry added: “Good luck mate,” along with fist bump and blue heart emojis.

Juan Mata's eight-month search for a new club to prolong his career is reportedly close to ending.

Fabrizio Romano reports the former Manchester United and Chelsea star is heading Down Under to sign with A-League outfit Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 36-year-old rejected rumours of retirement after leaving Japanese side Vissel Kobe in January.

The veteran midfielder won the J1 League despite making just one appearance for the club where his Spanish compatriot Andres Iniesta racked up over a century of games for.

Mata worked as a pundit for Euro 2024 while maintaining his fitness training with Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland.

After considering his options, the 2012 Champions League winner with Chelsea has seemingly decided to head to Australia.

Liverpool are planning to open talks with Mo Salah over a new contract in the near future, talkSPORT understands.

Salah dropped a bombshell after scoring in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Manchester United by claiming it could be his last appearance at Old Trafford in a Liverpool shirt.

But the Anfield hierarchy are relaxed about Salah's situation with talks scheduled to take place with their Egyptian superstar's advisers imminently.

It is also understood Salah is settled on Merseyside and keen to stay beyond the end of this season when his current deal expires despite the possibility of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Sticking with Chelsea as the club have announced that Jason Gannon has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer - just a year-and-a-half after their previous CEO took charge.

In May 2023, Chris Jurasek took over the role but will now transition back to being an operating executive with Clearlake Capital, the co-controlling owners of the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Meanwhile, Gannon, who joined the club as COO in October last year, will instead take responsibility for all the business areas of the club.
