Manchester United kick off this weekend's Premier League action with an away trip to Southampton - and the pressure is already on Erik ten Hag to deliver.

An opening day 1-0 win over Fulham was followed by really poor defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, leaving the Red Devils is desperate need of three points at St Mary's.

If not for the sake of their fans and the confidence of their players, for the future of their manager.

Ten Hag signed a contract extension in July after United bosses chose to keep him in charge despite talks with a number of other coaches - but nobody would have expected his future to come into question just three games into the season.

And the Dutchman has admitted he needs to start winning again to repay the faith shown in him by his superiors - namely Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

“In football you have to win, you have to deliver, that’s clear," said Ten Hag ahead of the lunchtime game - which is LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on talkSPORT.

“It’s good that the new leadership acknowledge this and says this.

Nobody can deny in these last eight or nine months a lot has happened to this club.

"A new leadership team, new structure and ownership structure, a new leadership team - a huge turnaround, I would say.”

Ivan Toney made his debut in the Saudi Pro League last night - against Cristiano Ronaldo, no less.

The former Brentford striker, who left in a £40m deal, even almost secured a winning start to life as an Al-Ahli player as his team drew 1-1 with Al-Nassr.

Toney - sporting the 99 shirt - started the match, leading the line in front of former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino and ex-Man City winger Riyad Mahrez.

It was another big star who fired Al Ahli in the lead, with former Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.

A debut win for Toney - who played the full 90 minutes - was almost booked, only to concede an own-goal in the ninth minute of injury-time to spoil the party.

Pep Guardiola admits he has to binge-watch Liverpool to gain a better understanding of Arne Slot’s method.

The Manchester City boss has been thrown a curveball with the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

Klopp’s departure may have brought the curtain down on one of the Premier League’s greatest managerial rivalries, but the Liverpool-Manchester City battle appears to be alive and well.

Guardiola now has the task of working out a way to overcome Slot’s methods ahead of their first showdown at Anfield on November 30.

Both sides have maximum points from their opening three league games with the table already taking a familiar look.

Speaking about the adaptations he has made since Slot’s arrival, Guardiola said: "When I play a new club in the Champions League that I don't know, I see much more than playing against Arsenal, for example.

The Blues will have the option to recall him in January.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe was pleased to see his star winger Anthony Gordon get some game time for England over the international break.

Despite heading to Euro 2024 as one of the Premier League's in-form players, Gordon played just one minute of normal time across the whole tournament as Gareth Southgate elected for different options.

But with Southgate gone, Three Lions interim boss Lee Carsley handed Gordon two starts in the Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Although he didn't register a goal or an assist, the winger was a constant threat throughout in both games, with his pace causing a lot of problems.

Plus, he looked match fit, which is not something that could be said after his first three Premier League games, so Toon fans will be looking forward to seeing Gordon back up to full speed.

And Howe was pleased to see Gordon playing for England.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle's trip to Wolves, he said: "Anthony is in a great place after the two England games.

I thought he played really well.

"I know how proud he is to play for his country, so those two games would have meant a lot to him.

"He has come back in a great place."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has shared his reaction to the news Rodrigo Bentancur faces a long ban.

The FA have charged the midfielder with an 'aggravated breach' of rule E3, which relates to the use of offensive language.

Earlier this year, Bentancur conducted an interview with Uruguayan TV in which he suggested all South Koreans 'looked the same'.

He immediately apologised to Heung-min Son, but faces a suspension ranging from 6-12 domestic games, and Postecoglou believes it is a chance for Bentancur to learn.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the north London derby, he said: "We kind of knew it’s something that the league could look at.

He is a different profile to Jean-Philippe."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that Ollie Watkins is fit for the club's game against Everton this weekend.

Watkins was one of three England players to withdraw from the Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland over the international break.

It was said he was nursing some sort of issue, but Watkins has been training and will play for Villa tomorrow.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Emery said: "He is progressing, getting better, feeling better and is in the squad.
