Nobody can deny in these last eight or nine months a lot has happened to this club.

Ivan Toney made his debut in the Saudi Pro League last night - against Cristiano Ronaldo, no less.

The former Brentford striker, who left in a £40m deal, even almost secured a winning start to life as an Al-Ahli player as his team drew 1-1 with Al-Nassr.

Toney - sporting the 99 shirt - started the match, leading the line in front of former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino and ex-Man City winger Riyad Mahrez.

It was another big star who fired Al Ahli in the lead, with former Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.

A debut win for Toney - who played the full 90 minutes - was almost booked, only to concede an own-goal in the ninth minute of injury-time to spoil the party.

Pep Guardiola admits he has to binge-watch Liverpool to gain a better understanding of Arne Slot’s method.

The Manchester City boss has been thrown a curveball with the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

Klopp’s departure may have brought the curtain down on one of the Premier League’s greatest managerial rivalries, but the Liverpool-Manchester City battle appears to be alive and well.

Guardiola now has the task of working out a way to overcome Slot’s methods ahead of their first showdown at Anfield on November 30.

Both sides have maximum points from their opening three league games with the table already taking a familiar look.

Speaking about the adaptations he has made since Slot’s arrival, Guardiola said: "When I play a new club in the Champions League that I don't know, I see much more than playing against Arsenal, for example.

I thought he played really well.

"I know how proud he is to play for his country, so those two games would have meant a lot to him.

"He has come back in a great place."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has shared his reaction to the news Rodrigo Bentancur faces a long ban.

The FA have charged the midfielder with an 'aggravated breach' of rule E3, which relates to the use of offensive language.

Earlier this year, Bentancur conducted an interview with Uruguayan TV in which he suggested all South Koreans 'looked the same'.

He immediately apologised to Heung-min Son, but faces a suspension ranging from 6-12 domestic games, and Postecoglou believes it is a chance for Bentancur to learn.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the north London derby, he said: "We kind of knew it’s something that the league could look at.

He is a different profile to Jean-Philippe."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that Ollie Watkins is fit for the club's game against Everton this weekend.

Watkins was one of three England players to withdraw from the Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland over the international break.

It was said he was nursing some sort of issue, but Watkins has been training and will play for Villa tomorrow.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Emery said: "He is progressing, getting better, feeling better and is in the squad.

For tomorrow, he will be available to play."

Meanwhile, Ezri Konsa came off in midweek with a problem, but Emery also confirmed he was fine.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

The German is into his first campaign of top-flight football and has made an unbeaten start.

The Seagulls opened the season with a 3-0 away win against Everton before they beat Manchester United 2-1 at home.

They then followed that up with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates.

And despite not picking up nine points from nine, Hurzeler has beaten Arne Slot to the award.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the door is open for Ben Chilwell to return to the Blues' first-team squad.

During the transfer window, the England left-back was placed into the 'bomb squad', along with all of the other players Maresca decided weren't part of his plans.

But while moves for Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah materialised, there were no takers for Chilwell.

But with the transfer window now closed, Maresca has confirmed the defender does have an immediate future at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Bournemouth at the weekend, he said: Ben now is the only one [of the exiled group] still here so probably now we’ll sit with him and find a solution.

“Probably, he’s going to be back with us in training sessions.

We can use him."

Crystal Palace loanee Trevoh Chalobah's start to life in south London couldn't have got off to a worse start because he's picked up an injury already.

The centre-back joined the Eagles on transfer deadline day from Chelsea for the rest of the season, but he won't be making his debut this weekend or midweek in the Carabao Cup.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed Chalobah has picked up a knock that will keep him out for at least two games.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of their match against Leicester, he said: “Trevoh Chaloabh picked up an injury in his first session.

“I don’t think he will be out for too long."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to rule Martin Odegaard out of the north London derby.

The Gunners captain was withdrawn in midweek for Norway in a Nations League game against Austria after he twisted his ankle.

Odegaard was then spotted on crutches as he returned to England, and various medical experts have claimed the creative midfielder faces a minimum of three weeks out.

However, Arteta seems more positive.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the north London derby, he said: "We need some more tests.

Let’s see what happens."

Meanwhile, Mikel Merino is on the road to recovery and Gabriel Jesus has a chance of being involved.

However, Riccardo Calafiori is doubtful after suffering a freak injury on international duty with Italy.

Ange Postecoglou might have Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke back for the north London derby, but he has an injury concern over Yves Bissouma.

The Malian international would be almost certain to start in the heart of the Spurs midfield this weekend, but he's returned from international duty with an issue.

It's unclear what the problem is, but his manager confirmed Bissouma would be touch and go for the derby.

He said: “We had the last of the boys in late yesterday so we'll have a look at them today and everyone's reporting all well except for Biss.

“He's got a bit of an issue, but we'll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles.”

Meanwhile, Richarlison remains on the sidelines.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglu has shared a very positive update on Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke ahead of the north London derby.

Solanke, who played every league game last season, has missed two matches this year after completing a £65 million move from Bournemouth to Spurs.

He started the 1-1 draw with Leicester to make his debut but has been missing since.

However, he's back in training and has a good chance of leading the line against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Van de Ven was absent from the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle before the international break, but the Dutchman is fully fit.

Speaking to the press, Postecoglou said: "Micky's good, he's trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he's ready to go.

"Dom's improved as well and trained the back half of this week.
