Ollie Watkins goes over theatrically inside the penalty area after slight contact with Ibrahima Konate but the decision goes the other way.
The England striker avoids a yellow card for simulation but Liverpool have greater concerns as Trent Alexander-Arnold has picked up a knock.
The Reds vice-captain can't continue and is replaced by fellow academy graduate Conor Bradley.
Alexander-Arnold has been named in the England squad but will now be a major doubt for the upcoming international break.

NUNEZ FIRES HOME AND ANFIELD ERUPTS!!
A blistering counter-attack from an Aston Villa corner sets Mohamed Salah away after Youri Tielemans' terrible cross is cleared.
The Egyptian looks to be through on goal after latching onto Virgil van Dijk's long ball but he's brought tumbling to the turf by a recovering Leon Bailey.
It would be a red card as the last man back but advantage is played as Nunez takes over.
The striker's initial heavy first touch narrows down the angle.
But the Uruguayan makes no mistake by powering his shot past Emi Martinez into the roof of the net.

This was Man City's starting XI on the 20th of August 2006, the last time they lost four consecutive games in all competitions.
That was a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on the opening day of the new Premier League season, with City losing their final three matches of the previous campaign.
Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart was on the bench that day alongside talkSPORT's Danny Mills.
Micah Richards started in defence, with Claudio Reyna - whose son Giovanni currently plays for Borussia Dortmund - also involved.
Goals from John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba saw Chelsea cruise to victory in a game where Bernardo Corradi was sent off.
18 years later and it's Pep Guardiola who has overseen a similar run of form and replied: “Well… welcome!
There is always time for a first in life”.

Erling Haaland allows his frustrations to boil over seconds before the final whistle as he wrestles with Jan Paul van Hecke.
The pair are both shown yellow cards but it'll do nothing to affect the outcome of the result with Bart Verbruggen launching the ball long.
PEP GUARDIOLA HAS SUFFERED FOUR DEFEATS IN A ROW!
The Premier League champions of the past four straight years have made an unwanted slice of history under their greatest-ever manager.
A Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham had Man City players smiling before the end of the match while sitting on the substitute bench.
It's anything but now as Guardiola makes a beeline for Van Hecke after entering the pitch and the duo have a terse brief exchange.
From London to the south coast of Bournemouth last week, a trip to Lisbon and now back to Brighton.

COMEBACK COMPLETE!!!
Pep Guardiola grabs his bottle of water as he slumps back in his seat as his team are staring down the barrel of four successive defeats!
It's the first Premier League goal for former Celtic star O'Riley, back from injury, and on from the bench!
He combines with fellow substitute Joao Pedro to advance into the box and then slot a slightly bouncing ball past Ederson.
O'Riley is just the sixth Brighton player to score on their Premier League debut for the club.
The Denmark international is also the first player to score against Man City on his Premier League debut since Steven Bergwijn for Spurs in February 2020.

THE CHAMPIONS HAVE BEEN OPENED UP AGAIN!
It's been coming and finally, Pedro strikes to haul the Seagulls level.
The Brazilian missed a huge chance earlier in the second-half after coming on as a substitute but he made no mistake this time.
A wonderful raking diagonal ball releases Kaoru Mitoma to advance into the box and his squared cross falls kindly for Danny Welbeck.
Welbeck should finish unmarked in the six-yard area but he gets the ball caught under his feet and City get enough bodies in the way.
But Pedro reacts fastest to the bobbling ball and fires past Ederson from close range.
1-1!
Only Jhon Durán (8) has more goals as a substitute in the Premier League since the start of last season than Pedro (5).

Yoane Wissa was Brentford's star man once again as his double helped see off Bournemouth in a five-goal thriller today.
Bees boss Thomas Frank has heaped praise on his new star striker, claiming he trusted him to step up after Ivan Toney's exit.
Wissa now boasts seven Premier League goals this season, with the striker scoring in each of his four Bees home matches so far.
The 28-year-old has now banged in 15 non-penalty goals in 2024.
I think football's passed him by, and I just wouldn't want a Jose Mourinho of now at my club, and I would imagine all Newcastle fans would feel the same."

The champions are good value to be leading at the break, and as it stands, will go one point above Premier League leaders Liverpool.
However, more importantly for Pep Guardiola, is the stopping of a recent rot in all competitions for his side.
It is worth noting how Sporting Lisbon took the game to City after half-time, which could give Brighton confidence.
And right now that's all the Seagulls have - they've been second-best in virtually all departments at the Amex so far!

OF COURSE IT'S HIM!!
654,251 Fantasy Premier League managers have transferred out the most-sold player for Gameweek 11 - how he's made them pay!
It's almost a typical Haaland goal as he plays on the shoulder of the last defender and is threaded through by Mateo Kovacic.
However, his finish has a touch of his recent rustiness in front of goal and he gets some good fortune after firing straight at the keeper.
But Brighton's Bart Verbruggen can't prevent the shot squirming underneath his body and it pops back up for Haaland to poke home.
Seven of the Norwegian's last eight Premier League goals have either put Manchester City ahead (6) or been an equaliser (1).
Haaland has now scored at 19 of the 21 stadiums he's played at in the Premier League, only failing to do so at Anfield (2 games) and the Gtech Community Stadium (1 game).
He has now also become the fastest player in Premier League history to reach the 75-goal mark, needing just 77 games to do so!

Man City XI: Ederson, Josko Gvardiol, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, Ilkay Gündogan, Phil Foden, Savinho, Erling Haaland
In Rico Lewis (19y 354d) and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (19y 5d), Manchester City are starting a Premier League game with at least two teenagers for the first time since New Year's Day 2020 against Everton (Phil Foden and Eric García).

JORDAN PICKFORD TAKE A BOW!
Neither side deserved the three points, but England's No.1 ensured the travelling Toffees didn't leave empty-handed.
In stoppage time, Pickford somehow denied West Ham a winner after keeping out Danny Ings' deflected strike destined for the top corner.
It's virtually the final action at the London Stadium, as the Three Lions goalkeeper takes the plaudits at full-time.

It goes from bad to worse for Oliver Glasner as all hope of getting back in this contest has been snuffed out.
At 1-0, Daichi Kamada received his marching orders and the Eagles were reduced to ten for the final 15 minutes.
The Japanese midfielder can have no complaints - it's a horror high tackle on Kenny Tete that leaves the Fulham player in a heap.
Kamada caught Tete with his studs on the knee and referee Michael Salisbury had no hesitation in brandishing the red card.
Just over five minutes later, Fulham took full advantage of the man advantage as Harry Wilson slotted home a second goal.
It caps an incredible week for the Welshman following his late double against Brentford on Monday, and it's his first touch.
One minute and eight seconds after coming on as a substitute Wilson was played through by Alex Iwobi and finished past Dean Henderson.
It's more misery for Palace, who were without eight senior stars ahead of kick-off, and were already missing Will Hughes through suspension.
Kamada will now be unavailable for the club's next three matches; which includes a trip away at Aston Villa, and at home to Newcastle.

It remains goalless after an hour in east London, and talkSPORT 2 has the latest with live coverage from this six-point showdown.
Commentator Ian Danter said the London Stadium was ‘subdued’.
Former Arsenal winger Perry Groves was not as kind, saying at the break: “In the first-half West Ham have looked like a team of trialists, like they don't know each other.
“There’s no cohesion there whatsoever.
“And there is no atmosphere in this stadium.
“There are 60,000 people in here and you’d think you were at a West End theatre.
“The camera has just panned over to Sir Trevor Brooking, they could do with a player like him out there - a little bit of flair and creativity.”
The half-time stats below back up what Groves had told talkSPORT, and unfortunately it's not been any different since the restart.

WHAT A PRICELESS GOAL THAT CAN BE FOR GARY O'NEIL!
Southampton boss Russell Martin is fuming as he wants VAR to check a challenge from Craig Dawson on Cameron Archer in the build-up.
A foul wasn't given and Wolves continued their attack before Cunha unleashed an unstoppable effort from 30 yards into the net.
Aaron Ramsdale could do nothing about it - but he talks his way into being shown a yellow card for joining his manager Martin's protests.
Elsewhere, Brentford have completed their remarkable comeback against Bournemouth and are now leading 3-2.
Yoane Wissa has his second of the afternoon after dinking the ball over Kepa Arrizabalaga - who has not enjoyed his return today.

WHAT A START TO THE SECOND-HALF!
80 seconds between both teams scoring after the restart as Damsgaard draws the hosts' level for a second time.
Justin Kluivert had restored Bournemoith's lead from a well-worked corner, but the away fans didn't have long to celebrate.
Damsgaard is found in the box by Bryan Mbeumo but his tame shot to the near post somehow squeezes past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Emile Smith Rowe strikes just before the break to hand Fulham a precious 1-0 lead over Crystal Palace.
The former Arsenal man was strongly linked with a move to the Eagles earlier this summer before moving to Craven Cottage.
Elsewhere, Yoane Wissa has hauled Brentford back level against Bournemouth, who took an early lead through Evanilson.
It remains goalless between West Ham and Everton, while Wolves are just about holding onto a slender lead against Southampton.
However, the Saints have a strong case to feel aggrieved to be behind after Ryan Manning's equaliser was ruled out by VAR.

Ryan Manning thinks he's given the Saints a route back into the game but his equaliser has been controversially ruled out.
Referee Thomas Brammall is advised to come over to the screen to judge a tangle between Mateus Fernandes and Nelson Semedo.
He agrees with VAR's view that the Wolves defender had been fouled before Manning lashed home and the goal gets chalked off.
Mike Dean told Sky Sports: "It's very, very harsh.
"It actually looks like the foul is the other way…
"They should have stuck with the on-field decision in my view - I don't think it was a foul.
"The referee overturned the original decision and play restarted with a Wolves free-kick."

BEES HAVE GIFTED THE CHERRIES THE LEAD!
It's a horrible moment for summer signing Sepp van den Berg, who is punished for his blind back pass intended for Mark Flekken.
However, the former Liverpool defender's pass is straight to Evanilson who ruthlessly rounds the Brentford goalkeeper to open the scoring.

A goal inside two minutes but surprisingly it's not from Brentford!
Wolves, seeking their first Premier League win of the season, have enjoyed the perfect start against the struggling Saints.
Matheus Cunha threads a ball through to Sarabia and he shows great composure to round Aaron Ramsdale and slot into an open goal.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been forced into midfield against Fulham this afternoon to cope with the club's injury crisis.
The England international was named in Opta's team of Euro 2024 after partnering John Stones in Germany.
He was then strongly linked with a big-money move to Newcastle to become the focal point of Eddie Howe's backline.
But should is his versatility that Eagles boss Oliver Glasner has been forced to deploy Guehi in midfield at Selhurst Park.
Palace are without eight senior players, and crucially, multiple central midfielders, including Will Hughes and Adam Wharton.
Attacking talisman Eberechi Eze is also sidelined through injury, which means his Three Lions teammate Guehi will be stepping up.

Mikel Arteta admitted to not knowing the formula that sparked Arsenal's electric form in the second half of last season that carried them to within a whisker of the Premier League title.
The team spent a week in Dubai in the aftermath of what appeared to be two costly defeats over Christmas, as back-to-back losses against West Ham and Fulham looked to have counted them out of contention.
This season will not offer the chance for a mid-winter getaway with the league having axed the January hiatus from the calendar.
Arteta was at a loss to define the moment that galvanised his team and sent them on a supercharged run of 16 wins in their final 18 games.
"We don't know where that clicked," he said.
