AMORIM'S REIGN IS UP AND RUNNING!
We have played two minutes, and the Red Devils are in the lead already.
Amad Diallo picks up the ball on the far side and drives down the right.
He beats two men and whips in a low cross for Marcus Rashford.
He gets in ahead of his marker and converts.
That goal came in under two minutes, and there isn't a flicker of emotion from Ruben Amorim.
Meanwhile, Rashford has just equalled his goal tally under Erik ten Hag since March 2024.

We are now just moments away from another new era at Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford with a similar reputation, but despite claiming two trophies, things didn't work out for the Dutchman.
Ruben Amorim believes he is the man to get the Red Devils back to the top of English football.
He has asked for time, but the top-flight is relentless, and we are very close to things starting.
The players are in the tunnel, and Portman Road is bouncing.

There goes the final whistle, and Liverpool move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
However, as Arne Slot predicted, it was far from easy.
Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring when he exploited some terrible defending in the first half, but the Saints levelled through Adam Armstrong.
They then took the lead as Mateus Fernandes scored his first top-flight goal.
But when the Reds needed someone to save them, Mohamed Salah stepped up.
He scored from Ryan Gravenberch's pass before slamming the winner home from the penalty spot.

Well, this has come out of nowhere, but Leicester City have confirmed they've sacked Steve Cooper.
The former Nottingham Forest boss took charge of 15 games, winning just three in all competitions.
There were complaints from many sections of the Leicester fanbase about the style of play, and after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, the Foxes become the second team to part ways with their manager, following Manchester United sacking Erik ten Hag.
In a statement, the club said: "Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
"Assistant Manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach and Analyst Steve Rands have also left the Club.
Steve, Alan and Steve depart with our thanks for their contribution during their time with the Club and with our best wishes for the future.
"Men’s First Team training will be overseen by First Team Coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the Club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible."
He leaves the club in 16th place in the Premier League, two points above the drop zone.
talkSPORT understands this isn't a kneejerk reaction, and the club have been concerned with performances for some time.
Cooper had also failed to connect with the players or fans, and the search for his replacement is underway, though, its not expected to be a quick process.

Mohamed Salah runs up and curves his run.
He then whips his left foot around it and crashes a stunning penalty into the top corner.
He then charges off to the Liverpool away fans and removes his shirt.
That's his tenth Premier League goal of the season and his sixth in his last five.

Now it's the Reds' turn to get a penalty, and it's the substitute Yukinari Sugawara who gives it away.
Mohamed Salah cuts in from the right and delivers a cross that bounces up.
Sugawara is aware there is a man behind him, and the ball hits his chest then his arm.

They have just under 20 minutes plus stoppage time remaining to come from 2-1 down and claim a win over the Saints.

Ryan Gravenberch is given all the time in the world to lift a pass over the top of the Southampton defence.
Mohamed Salah races onto it and sees that Alex McCarthy has come off his line.
As the ball drops to the forward, he touches it past the Saints goalkeeper, and the ball rolls into the net.
Arne Slot has also made a couple of changes, with Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo coming off for Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister.

The Saints have turned this game on its head and are on course for a famous win.
Tyler Dibling does well to find Adam Armstrong, who looks to be in on goal.

However, he does well to pick out the arriving Mateus Fernandes, and he keeps his calm to cooly slot into the bottom corner.

Right, we have Ruben Amorim's first Manchester United starting XI.
As expected, it's a 3-4-3 formation for the Red Devils.
Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans form the back three.
Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot are the wing-backs.
Casemiro partners Christian Eriksen in midfield, with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes the front three.
For the Tractor Boys, it's one change from their 2-1 win over Tottenham as Wes Burns comes in for Ben Johnson.

That's the end of the first 45 minutes at St Mary's, and it's been very entertaining.
The Reds opened the scoring through Dominik Szoboszlai after some diabolical defending from Southampton, although it was still a good finish.
However, after Virgil van Dijk lost possession on the halfway line, Andy Robertson brought Tyler Dibling down in the penalty area.
Adam Armstrong's spot kick was saved but rebounded back to him, and he fired home.
On the balance of play, it's a fair scoreline.

Virgil van Dijk loses possession in midfield.
Tyler Dibling collects and races towards the box.
Andy Robertson stands in his way and trips him in the box.
The referee points to the spot, and VAR has a look.
But they can't determine if the contact happened in or outside the area, so the referee's decision to award the penalty stands.
The Premier League Match Centre also clarified the decision.
In a statement, they said: "The referee’s call of penalty for the challenge by Robertson on Dibling is checked and confirmed by VAR, who deemed there was no conclusive evidence that the contact occurred outside the penalty area."

The Saints come forward and work the ball into the box.
It drops for Downes, and he rifles a shot at goal that Caoimhin Kelleher tips away for a corner, which comes to nothing.

He pulls up and is replaced by Joe Aribo, receiving a good reception from both sets of supporters.

Dominik Szoboszlai is the goalscorer, but this is shambolic from the Saints.
Alex McCarthy gathers a Conor Bradley shot and rolls the ball into Mateus Fernandes on the edge of the box.
He loses it, but Flynn Downes has time to clear.
His clearance is pathetic and drops to Szoboszlai, who opens up his body and curls a strike in off the post.
That's a big goal for the midfielder who has carried his international form into this game.
Meanwhile, Perry Groves was less than impressed.
Speaking on talkSPORT he said: "It was so basically bad.
It was ridiculous."
It is now seven errors leading to goals for Southampton this season, we are in November...

Adam Lallana might have got away with one there.
The former Liverpool man sees a loose ball in midfield and rushes in to collect, but Ryan Gravenberch beats him to it.
Lallana clatters into the Dutchman and sends him flying seven feet into the air, while Gravenberch's screams are audible.
The referee decides that it's a challenge worthy of a yellow card, and VAR agrees.
You can file that one as a 'robust challenge'.

He has Adam Armstrong making a run in behind, but Fernandes ignores him and hits a dipping strike that Caoimhin Kelleher gathers.
The Reds break and Dominik Szoboszlai charges through the non-existent Saints midfield and flicks a pass into Mohamed Salah.
He takes a touch and curls a shot at goal that Alex McCarthy tips behind.

The Manchester United starting XI under Ruben Amorim remains a total mystery, but we could see a 16-year-old on the bench.
Godwill Kukonki has travelled with the Red Devils to Portman Road and has a chance of being among the substitutes.
The Man United Under-18 man is a tall, left-footed defender who can play at left-back and centre-back.
He has been at the club since he was nine and has impressed in first-team training this week.
If he does make the bench, it would be a very proud moment for this young man and his family.
