Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said some of the club's players are 'not good enough' and 'some probably are overpaid' in a brutally honest interview.

The British billionaire, who took charge of footballing operations at United in February last year, referenced Rasmus Hojland, Andre Onana and Casemiro, plus Jadon Sancho and Antony, who are both on loan, as he spoke about "players we are buying this summer, that we didn't buy' in an interview with the BBC.

Ratcliffe told the BBC: "These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we've inherited those things and have to sort that out.

"For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we're paying £17million to buy him in the summer."

Asked if he was suggesting those players were not good enough for United, Ratcliffe said: "Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid, but for us to mould the squad that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time."

Manchester City Women have axed Gareth Taylor as coach.

The decision comes a day after a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa Women in the quarter-final of the FA Women's Cup.

“Manchester City prides itself on competing at the top of the WSL and on its outstanding record of qualifying for European competition," managing director Charlotte O'Neil said.

“Unfortunately, results this season have so far not reached this high standard.

“With six games of the WSL campaign remaining, we believe that a change of management will breathe fresh life into our bid to ensure qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Gareth for all of his efforts during his many years at City.

Our FA Cup and League Cup triumphs will remain special moments in the history of this football club.

“We wish him all the best for the future.”

Nick Cushing, who managed Manchester City Women from March 2013 to January 2020, will take over on an interim basis for the rest of the season.

Simon Jordan picked apart Roy Keane for questioning Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s mentality after their 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

After the match Keane critiqued Arteta, he said: "What makes you think the manager can do it?

"They’ve gotten close over the last few years but City will be strong next year and I’m sure Liverpool will be too.

"Where’s the evidence to think they can do it?

He’s turned it from a place of relatively disenfranchised and now you’ve got fans that are absolutely engaged with their team, a fully committed squad of players.

"He just needs to move a few parts about and one of them might be a centre forward."

Cody Gakpo was involved in Liverpool training today ahead of their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds welcome PSG to Anfield on Tuesday in their round of 16 second leg.

Arne Slot's side are defending a 1-0 lead from last week's opening tie.

Ahead of the match, Gakpo trained with his team-mates on Monday.

The Dutch forward missed Saturday's home victory over Southampton with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were both all smiles during the session.

Gakpo has three goals and an assist in seven Champions League appearances this term.

Liverpool will face either Club Brugge or Aston Villa in the quarter-finals next month if they beat PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool winger is currently out of contract at the end of this season.

PSG have been strongly linked with a move for the 32-year-old on a free transfer.

However, Le Parisien report that the French giants are no longer interested in signing Salah.

It is understood that Salah's profile no longer matches what Luis Enrique wants in his squad.

The Egyptian has been at Anfield since 2017, with his current deal signed three years ago.

So far this term, Salah has scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 41 matches across all competitions.

Of those goals, 27 have been in the Premier League, making him the division's top scorer.

Ronald Koeman has explained the reason for Joshua Zirkzee's exclusion from his latest Netherlands squad.

The Dutch face Spain home and away in the Nations League quarter-finals on March 20 and 23.

Ahead of the international break, Koeman has named his squad, with Zirkzee left out.

Explaining the decision, the former Everton boss said: "He wasn’t in the preliminary selection because I don’t think he’s good enough at the moment.

"Especially scanning when turning or passing often goes wrong.

"Yes, in principle form and fitness are always leading, but that is not always possible.

"We have a lot of central defenders and midfielders, but we are somewhat limited up front.

"But even then, I still think that you have to earn your selection, and I think he doesn’t deserve that now, but that could be the case again in another period."

Zirkzee has scored once in six caps since Koeman handed him his senior international debut in July.

However, the 23-year-old has struggled for form since joining Manchester United, scoring just three Premier League goals this season.

Arsenal and Newcastle are set to rival each other for Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer.

The 22-year-old striker is valued at £67million, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Meanwhile, Sky in Switzerland report that the price tag has not deterred either Premier League side.

Newcastle have even enquired about the Frenchman's availability in the summer.

It is understood Ekitike is seen as a possible replacement if Alexander Isak departs.

Arsenal's interest rests on the arrival of incoming sporting director Andrea Berta.

Ekitike is keen on a move to the Premier League and the chance to play in the Champions League next season.

Frankfurt signed Ekitike last summer following an initial loan from Paris Saint-Germain, with his deal running until 2029.

Aston Villa are reportedly keen to Axel Disasi's loan spell permanent.

The defender signed from Chelsea until the end of the season on deadline day.

He has since made five appearances, all of which have been as part of the starting line-up.

According to Foot Mercato, Villa are already prepared to keep Disasi beyond the end of his current loan.

However, a buy clause was not included in the deal which brought him to Villa Park.

Disasi is also said to be attracting interest from elsewhere in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old will have four years remaining on his Chelsea deal when he returns to his parent club in the summer.

Simon Jordan believes Millwall’s Liam Roberts should have been banned for the rest of the season as the row over his red card rumbles on.

Millwall fans were again videoed showing their support to their goalkeeper at the weekend, while also chanting about Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Roberts was sent off in the FA Cup clash between Crystal Palace and Millwall for his horror challenge that led to Mateta needing 25 stitches.

The goalkeeper subsequently was banned for six matches after having his punishment increased.

One Millwall fan text into White and Jordan saying: “We’re not playing victims, but all of you in the media jump on the bandwagon, which led to the unfair extension of Roberts.”

Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan hit back and said: “No, he got banned because he committed a terrible challenge and he should have got an extension.

“He should have been banned for the rest of the season.

We need them behind the players with the spirit they showed."

Liverpool have agreed a new kit deal with Adidas from the start of next season.

The Reds have announced a multi-year partnership with the sportswear firm to become their kit partner from August 1.

As a result, Arne Slot's side will continue to wear their current Nike strip in pre-season before donning their near Adidas kit.

According to The Athletic, the partnership is worth more than £60million a season.

That figure represents an increase on the club's current kit deal with Nike.

Liverpool have had their current kit supplier since the 2020/21 season.

Meanwhile, Adidas previously provided the club's kits from 1985 to 1996 and 2006 to 2012.

Chief executive Billy Hogan explained: "Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family.

"We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time.

"Adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on-pitch performance.

"We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future."

Frustrated Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta refused to concede the Premier League title despite Sunday's 1-1 draw at Manchester United leaving his side 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.

The Gunners dropped points for the third straight match as the 1-0 home loss to West Ham and 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest were compounded on a day of protest at Old Trafford.

Arsenal dominated the first half but were made to pay for their lack of attacking threat when Bruno Fernandes scored a stoppage-time free-kick.

Declan Rice's strike and some key David Raya saves in the second half saw them leave with a 1-1 draw, which does little to stop Arne Slot's relentless Reds marching towards the title.

"Today the efficiency we had in the last 20 metres wasn't good enough," Arteta said.

I don't think it's the right moment to talk about that anyway."

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has been speaking about Bruno Fernandes' free-kick this afternoon.

The Man United captain scored an excellent free-kick for his side to help them draw 1-1 with Arsenal.

However, despite having a giant wall, Fernandes manged to get the ball over easily, and Eriksen believes it is because the wall was further back than it should have been.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I was happy that the wall was about 15 metres away.

"I noticed before the kick that they were far back, and it was the same for when they had one in the second half [Martin Odegaard]

"But I think it was just beneficial for us.

"It makes a big difference because you don't need to hit it as high, meaning Bruno had a bit more space to put it over the wall."

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been spotted with strapping on his right ankle after coming off this afternoon.

The England international was substituted before the end of Los Blancos' match against Rayo Vallecano.

Bellingham made it to the 86th minute before he was taken off by Carlo Ancelotti.

Immediately, strapping and an ice pack were applied to his leg.

After the match, Ancelotti said: "It was a blow, nothing serious."

However, with the Champions League tie against Atletico coming up, he will be closely monitored.

We may never know if Mikel Arteta has now conceded Arsenal’s chances at winning the Premier League title.

That’s because the Gunners boss made a noticeably early exit when asked if his side were too far behind leaders Liverpool following Arsenal’s draw at Manchester United.

The 1-1 draw at Old Trafford leaves Arsenal 15 points off the pace with just ten games remaining.

What a couple of chances!

Myles Lewis-Skelly plays a pass infield to Leandro Trossard, and he rolls it along the area to Martin Odegaard.

The Arsenal captain tries to pick out the bottom corner, but Andre Onana gets down.

However, he pushes it out only as far as Gabriel Martinelli, who lashes it over the bar from four yards.

But Man United sense they can get the winner, and they charge down the other end.

The ball comes to Noussair Mazraoui who picks out Bruno Fernandes in the box.

He looks certain to score, but David Raya denies him brilliantly.

The ball then loops back towards goal, but the Spaniard claws it out.

Initially, Mikel Merino gifts possession to Rasmus Hojlund inside the Arsenal box.

He takes a touch to get the ball out of his feet, but it allows Declan Rice to lunge and produce a magnificent tackle.

The Gunners then break through Kieran Tierney.

The Scotsman picks out Leandro Trossard with a stunning pass, and the Belgian fires wide from just inside the box.

Well, Man United were looking quite comfortable, but the Gunners have equalised.

Jurrien Timber carries the ball down the right and gets into the box.

He picks out Declan Rice on the edge of the area, and he lashes in a shot off the inside of the post.

Kieran Tierney comes on for Thomas Partey, while Man United introduce Rasmus Hojlund and Toby Collyer for Joshua Zirkzee and Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, Noussair Maraoui is allowed to break his fast.
