Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Cristian Romero won't be available to face Manchester City tomorrow.

The Argentine played the full 90 minutes of Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Ipswich before the international break.

However, he was substituted at half time against Paraguay for Argentina with a suspected foot injury and Postecoglou has confirmed the defender will play no part this weekend.

This leaves Spurs very short at centre-back, with Micky van de Ven also still out.

So, it looks as if Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies will be forced to partner each other at the heart of the Tottenham defence as they take on the Premier League champions.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: "Romero won't be right for tomorrow's game.

I knew it then, I feel it now."

Mateo Kovacic has been ruled out for up to a month, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

The former Chelsea star has been City's makeshift replacement for Rodri since the Ballon d'Or winner suffered a serious knee injury.

Kovacic, who has scored three Premier League goals this season, has featured in all 11 of the champion's matches - playing 90 minutes seven times.

However, he has come back from international duty with Croatia injured, with Guardiola claiming he will be out for 'a while'.

Pressed on a timeline for Kovacic, the Spaniard added: "It will be a while, three weeks or a month, more or less."

Guardiola provided some more positive news for some other players due to return from injury ahead of City's game against Tottenham.

John Stones and Manuel Akanji 'trained good', with both Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias progressing well in their comebacks as well.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has revealed that Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier could both make their returns from injury on Monday.

Wilson has been a long-term absentee for the Magpies due to a back injury but is in line to feature against West Ham.

Howe said: "He’s doing well, we anticipate he’s going to train with the group today.

"Whether he’s quite there for West Ham let’s see.

There is a chance he could be involved but we need to get through the next few days in training first."

Wilson could be joined by former England teammate Trippier, who has been recovering form a hamstring problem.

Howe added: "Slightly closer than Callum, he trained yesterday and trained well, felt good, no ill effects, looked sharp.

"That was his first day’s training so we’re in a similar position in the respect that right at the end of the rehab you’ve got to navigate the last few days well."

A new legal row could erupt between Manchester City and the Premier League if amendments to top-flight sponsorship rules are voted through today.

City warned last week against rushing through changes to rules on associated party transactions (APTs) after they challenged them on competition law grounds.

It was announced last month that an arbitration panel found aspects of the rules to be unlawful, and City argue that to make amendments ahead of further guidance being given by the panel leaves the rules open to further challenges.

However, the Premier League's bosses are understood to be confident the changes are lawful after more than a month of consultation, and crucially believe the amendments will be accepted by a majority of clubs.

talkSPORT understands top-flight clubs expect the vote to be very close.

Pep Guardiola has said Manchester City's recent struggles contributed to his decision to sign a new two-year contract which will extend his stay as manager to more than a decade.

The 53-year-old would have been out of contract on July 1 next year, but has now agreed a new two-year deal to remain at the Etihad until 2027 - 11 years after he arrived in Manchester.

Although Guardiola's time at the Etihad Stadium has been littered with trophies, 18 in all, his new contract comes at a time when City have lost four straight games - two in the Premier League, one in the Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup.

And Guardiola made reference to those when spelling out why he wanted to stay.

"Now I cannot leave," he said in an interview on the club's website.

Should West Ham appoint Terzic he could become their third permanent manager in 2024 with Lopetegui replacing David Moyes, who left upon the expiration of his contract in the summer.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has waxed lyrcial over Pep Guardiola following the Spaniard's contract renewal.

Guardiola, who has won six Premier League titles at the Etihad, will bring up a decade of being in the Citizens' dugout by the time his new deal expires.

And he is now set to become the City manager with the most games overseen, with Guardiola currently on 490 as he chases down Les McDowall's record of 587.

Speaking of Guardiola, Al Mubarak said: "Like every City fan, I am delighted that Pep’s journey with Manchester City will continue; allowing his dedication, passion and innovative thinking to continue to shape the landscape of the game.

It is not affecting me. Whatever will be, will be."

Premier League referee David Coote 'is aware of the support network available to him' following his suspension.

An investigation continues into the 42-year-old following a video which appeared to show him labelling Jurgen Klopp as a 'German c***'.

A clip then obtained by The Sun appeared to show the Nottingham native snorting a white powder, which is claimed to have been filmed while he was working at Euro 2024.

It led UEFA to state that an ethics and disciplinary inspector had been appointed to investigate the footage.

And now the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) have provided an update on Coote.

A spokesperson said: "We are following an internal process and taking the allegations into David Coote's conduct very seriously as part of our ongoing full and thorough investigation.

"Whilst David remains suspended, his welfare continues to be important to us and he is aware of the support network available to him."

Pep Guardiola deciding to extend his stay at Manchester City could be good news for them in more than one sense.

The City manager is set to sign a new rolling one-year deal, putting an end to the huge uncertainty over his future.

The contract extension does not have a break clause, implying that the club are confident of winning the battle with the Premier League.

City are under investigation for 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial rules over a nine-year period which saw them win three league titles.
