The Premier League has confirmed Arne Slot will miss two games following his red card against Everton on Wednesday night.

The Liverpool boss was sent off by Michael Oliver after the final whistle at Goodison Park and will now be forced to watch the upcoming games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa from the stands.

That's presuming no appeal holds the process up.

“Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language.

He is handed a two-match touchline ban as a result,” the Premier League said via its website.

Liverpool hosts Wolves this weekend in the Premier League and travels to Villa Park next Wednesday in a game rescheduled due to the Reds' participation in the Carabao Cup final.

It's the second time Slot has been suspended this season with the Dutchman also watching from the stands as Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 in the Carabao Cup in December.

Slot was dismissed along with assistant manager Spike Hulshoff, while Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure were shown second yellow cards for their roles in instigating an on-field melee after the final whistle.

Doucoure sprinted towards the Liverpool fans to celebrate after Everton grabbed an injury-time equalizer in the derby, something Jones took exception to and ran after the former Watford man, before pulling him back.

The pair grappled and had to be restrained by players on both sides.

Virgil van Dijk was critical of Oliver after the game and said the referee 'didn't have the game under control'.

Slot is yet to speak to the media given his red card prevented him conducting his usual post-match interviews.
