Again, it comes down the Liverpool right with Trent Alexander-Arnold nowhere to be seen.
Ibrahima Konate can't stop Diogo Dalot's cross, and he picks out Amad in the area.
The young winger keeps his composure and fires in a low strike that Alisson Becker gets nowhere near.
He has now scored at the Etihad and Anfield this season.

The striker looks directly at Matthijs de Ligt and backs into him, making sure he connects with his shoulder.

Andre Onana dives the correct way and gets a hand to it.

Cody Gakpo has scored some massive goals this season, and potentially none as big as this!
Alexis Mac Allister pops up on the left and threads a pass through for the Dutchman.
He drives into the box and cuts inside.
Gakpo then unleashes a fantastic strike into the top corner.
After a quick VAR check, the goal stands.
Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are also being introduced for Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz.

WHAT A STRIKE!
Lisandro Martinez has rocketed Man United into the lead at Anfield to end a nine-hour goal drought away at the Reds.
It all starts with Trent Alexander-Arnold's poor clearance.
Martinez intercepts and plays a pass into Bruno Fernandes, he returns the ball to the Argentine.
He is at a difficult angle, but leathers a stunning strike in off the crossbar.
Martinez is the first Man United defender to score at Anfield since Rafael.

This time, it's Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine steps up and delivers a wicked ball under the crossbar that Andre Onana just about deals with.
He punches it into Harry Maguire, and the Red Devils eventually scramble the ball away.

Right, we are back underway at Anfield.
No changes from either side, but Ruben Amorim will be the much happier of the two managers.
However, Arne Slot's team talks have proven to be successful since he replaced Jurgen Klopp, so expect the Reds to be better.
The question for Man United will be if they can be more clinical when they get chances.

So ends a fascinating first 45 minutes at Anfield.
Both sides have had chances, but Man United's performance has been much better than recent weeks.
The midfield is combative and mobile, while they've missed two golden opportunities through Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund.
The Reds have been a bit off it and unable to get Mohamed Salah into the match.
They've had two good chances through Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister, but neither man was able to take advantage.

Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo do well to win possession from Curtis Jones.
They play the ball into Lisandro Martinez, and he curls a delightful pass over the top for Rasmus Hojlund.
The Dane is in on goal, with Alisson Becker undecided about whether to stay on his line or not.
That leaves the far side of the goal open for Hojlund, but he just slams his shot into Alisson's body.

Man United fans housed in the away end are singing Joshua Zirkzee's name as he warms up in front of them.
The Dutchman was hooked after 32 minutes against Newcastle United at Old Trafford, and the decision was cheered by some of the home fans.
It was a horrible moment for the forward, so it's brilliant that those Red Devils supporters at Anfield this afternoon are giving him support.

Bruno Fernandes dinks a lovely ball past the offside trap for Diogo Dalot.
He looks up and sees Amad Diallo waiting in the area.
The delivery is spot on for the young winger, but he somehow gets past the ball and clears it.
If he made proper contact, that was 1-0 to Man United, but in the end, it's an excellent defensive header.

The Dutchman sees his fellow countryman Cody Gakpo making a run in behind and slides him in.

Man United have made a good start to the match, but they loses possession in midfield and Cody Gakpo nips in.
He looks to start a counter-attack, but Ugarte wipes him out.

Dalot backs off him and allows him to come inside on his left foot.

Well, it would be fair to say that Roy Keane isn't looking forward to this game at all.
The former Red Devils captain is never afraid to be honest about Man United, but he is still usually positive before games.
However, there is not even an ounce of positivity from him today.

I am more worried today than I have ever been for United.
This is one of the worst United teams in a long time."
Given the contrasting forms between the two teams, you can understand why he feels the way he does.

Interestingly, this is the first time that Ruben Amorim has named the same defence in back-to-back Premier League games.
The former Sporting Lisbon manager arrived at Old Trafford in November 2024 to replace Erik ten Hag.
Since then, things haven't gone to plan, with the Red Devils losing their last four league games.
However, rather than chopping and changing his back five for this one, he's decided to go with the same defence from the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
He will hope they can produce a better display than they managed at Old Trafford a week ago.

There is no Marcus Rashford in the Manchester United squad for this game against Liverpool.
Ruben Amorim revealed that the England international was doubtful for this match due to illness, and that illness has prevented him from travelling to Anfield.
Rashford has played no part in Man United's last four Premier League games.
He did return to the substitutes bench for the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle but remained on the sidelines for the whole match.
Ans speaking ahead of the match, Amorim said: “Marcus Rashford is still ill, so he's not available for the game today”.

There goes the final whistle, and what a great game we've been served up by these two!
Ipswich had the lead through Sammie Szmodics after some awful defending from Calvin Bassey.
But the Cottagers got an equaliser through Raul Jimenez from the penalty spot after Harry Wilson was fouled in the box.
21 seconds later, Ipswich got a spot kick of their own through Liam Delap, and he slammed his effort into the top corner.
Opta recorded the two penalties as the shortest between each other in the Premier League.
But there was still one more twist to come as Jimenez was tripped in the box by Leif Davis, and he stepped up to score again.
He is now the all-time top Mexican goalscorer in Premier League history, with 55.
It was a cruel ending for the Tractor Boys, who remain in the relegation zone.
