Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta now has an injury crisis with his wingers, after confirming Raheem Sterling has now been sidelined.
Chelsea loanee Sterling was a surprise omission from the Gunners' matchday squad for the 5-1 win over Crystal Palace.
It came just days after he made a rare start in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup win against the Eagles.
The 30-year-old would have been in line for some much-needed game time following Bukayo Saka's hamstring injury.
However, Arteta was forced to turn to Leandro Trossard at Selhurst Park with Sterling unavailable due to a knee injury.
"We lost Raheem yesterday and we don’t know for how long," Arteta said after the game.
He is going to be out for many weeks."
"No [there's no fear Saka will not return before the end of the season] "I'm very optimistic he'll be back before the end of the season."
Following Trossard's introduction on Saturday, Gabriel Martinelli switched to the right with both Saka and Sterling injured.
The Brazilian's countryman Gabriel Jesus is also capable of deputising there having done so for the majority of his Man City career.
Arteta also named youngster Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz, who has been spearing Arsenal's attack as a No.9 after originally been earmarked for a midfield role following his move from Chelsea.

Manchester United fear Mason Mount could be out until March with his latest injury, talkSPORT understands.
The Red Devils are waiting to discover the full extent of Mount's hamstring issue that may sideline him for another ten weeks.
The 25-year-old incurred further misery after lasting just 15 minutes of the 2-1 win over Man City earlier this month.
Mount was starting just his fourth Premier League game of the season when he sustained his most recent fitness issue.
Signed for £60m from Chelsea in summer 2023, the former England star has made only 20 Man United appearances totalling 756 minutes.
Mount has already missed 37 games through injury over the past year and a half - which makes grim reading when compared to his old club.
During his entire Chelsea career, the midfielder only sat out a total of 18 matches for the Blues and never more than seven at a time.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is set to be ruled out until February, talkSPORT understands.
The England international pulled up in the 23rd minute of the Gunners' 5-1 win over Crystal Palace in Saturday's late kick-off.
Saka hit the deck, where he could be seen holding the back of his right leg before he instantly signalled to the bench.
An Arsenal medic came to his aid, but the 23-year-old was unable to shake off the knock and was swiftly replaced by Leandro Trossard.
Saka had previously picked up a hamstring injury on international duty in October during England's defeat to Greece.
He then appeared to tweak it again during his club's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in November.
Saka was pictured leaving Palace's ground on crutches after the game on December 21.

Kyle Walker has revealed Manchester City will be training on Christmas Day to reverse the team's horrendous recent form.
The Premier League champions have previously been a rare side who were given December 25 off to enjoy the festivities.
That came as a reward for their domestic dominance that has seen the club win six of the last seven Premier League titles.
However, Walker admitted City will be dragged into training on Christmas to prepare for their crucial Boxing Day clash against Everton at 12:30pm, live and exclusive on talkSPORT.
The defender told the You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast: "We've been fortunate over the past couple of seasons that we haven't had to train on Christmas Day...most do.
"We are doing this season because obviously we've got Everton at 12:30 on Boxing Day but the last couple of seasons I know that we've had Christmas Day off, which has been very nice.”
If Walker is reading this, talkSPORT have a handy guide to what he can expect from players who have trained on December 25.

Paraguay star Julio Enciso sparked rumours he will look to quit Brighton in January after seemingly waving goodbye to fans.
The playmaker has found minutes hard to come by at club level this season following his late return from the Paris Olympics this summer.
Enciso managed just 22 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Ham before an emotional wave to the away fans.
The 20-year-old then doubled down on the gesture by uploading a picture of the exchange on Instagram, alongside a wave emoji.
However, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler kept tight-lipped over Enciso's actions in this morning's press conference.
The Seagulls boss said: "He is doing a really good and training really hard."
"There is so much on social media, that is not my topic.
They are all lads trying their best, it's not a personal assault, but they are not good enough to play for Manchester United, because this club aims to be at the top.
"The same as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea - those clubs aim to be top, but you have got to get there.
"It's quite clear watching these players, they are not good enough."

Manchester United's recent issues with leaks extended to the Old Trafford press conference room with water dripping on reporters as Ruben Amorim spoke to the media on Sunday.
A week that started with discussion about the line-up getting into the public domain on the eve of the derby against Manchester City ended in a different type of leak hitting the club.
Amorim had just finished addressing Sunday's chastening 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth and had began to preview the Boxing Day trip to Wolves when the Old Trafford media room ceiling sprung a leak.
Water began dripping from a light fitting on reporters sat in the front row, leading to puzzlement in the room - including from the United boss - and a journalist being advised to switch seats mid-press conference.
It was a farcical moment at the end of an embarrassing day for a side that will spend Christmas sat 13th in the Premier League after being stunned by the Cherries.
The leak also underlines just why United are looking at building a new stadium rather than developing a ground that has been allowed to deteriorate over recent years.
Back in May, a storm wreaked havoc at Old Trafford towards the end of a Premier League match against Arsenal.
Speaking about his new Premier League records, he told Sky Sports: "I didn't think about it before the game but I'm glad I have done it.
"It's something that makes me proud, I’ll keep working hard."
On becoming the Reds' fourth all-time scorer, he said: "It’s great to achieve that at such a big club.
"But the most important thing is that we won the game."
Then on his future at the club, Salah added: "Wherever I am going to end my career I am happy about it."

Liverpool have now equalled the Premier League record.
They've now scored and conceded multiple goals in four successive top-flight away games.
It's only been done by Manchester United in 1994, Newcastle in 2003 and West Ham in 2016 before.
Gakpo then plays a square ball which bounced off Archie Gray and Dominik Szoboszlai before falling to Salah.
That's 14 goals in 16 Premier League games this season!
He's also drawn level with Liverpool legend Billy Liddell for overall goals for the club with 228.
