talkSPORT understands that the ex-Tottenham man is a target for Saudi Pro League clubs.

But they face competition from Serie A giants Milan, who are prepared to bring both Walker and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to the San Siro.

Though as it stands, there has been no contact between Milan and City regarding Walker.

A couple of Premier League transfer lines to bring you...

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal with Milwall for teenage winger Romain Esse, talkSPORT understands.

The Eagles will pay around £14m for Esse, 19, who has a £12.5m release clause in his contract that kicks in at the end of the season.

And Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo over a move for defender Oscar Mingueza.

Villa's sporting director Monchi is leading the negotiations for versatile Spanish international Mingueza.

Meanwhile Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce are showing strong interest in Villa centre back Diego Carlos.

  • Bring the Moyes

David Moyes sent a rallying cry to Everton fans after being confirmed as the club's new manager.

The 61-year-old has sealed an emotional return to Goodison Park with a two-year contract - 22 years after his initial move to Merseyside.

Moyes, who departed West Ham at the end of last season, first linked up with the Toffees in 2002 from Preston, staying for 11 years before taking charge at Manchester United.

And he is now back in the hotseat at his former stomping ground - signing a deal until 2027.

Issuing a rallying cry to the Everton faithful, Moyes said: “It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.

“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.

“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”

  • Le Fee checks in

Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Enzo Le Fee on loan from Roma until the end of the season.

Le Fee knows the Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris from his time at Lorient.

He has represented France at many different youth stages internationally.

However, a 2024 summer move from Stade Rennais to Roma hasn't really worked out, and he will spend the remainder of the campaign on Wearside.

The Black Cats have an option to buy should they be promoted to the Premier League, and Le Fee is excited to get going.

He said: “I’m very happy to be here and I’m excited to meet the people. There are some familiar faces with Wilson Isidor, Adil Aouchiche and Salis Abdul Samed.

"I also know the coach and I know how he wants to play, so I am sure this will also help me.

"Now, I just need to prove it on the pitch. I think that’s the most important thing and I’m very excited to play in front of the fans. This is a big club. For me, that is normal, and I can’t wait to get started.”

  • Mar-celona?

Barcelona have lodged an interest in Marcus Rashford, talkSPORT understands.

It’s understood that Spain is the Man United star’s preferred destination as he seeks a move away from Old Trafford this month.

As previously reported by talkSPORT, United have accepted they will not be able to sell Rashford this month due to his wage demands.

The 27-year-old has no shortage of suitors, with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also admirers of the player.

Meanwhile West Ham have asked to be kept informed of Rashford's situation at the Theatre of Dreams.

  • Meaning business

Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens, talkSPORT understands.

The Premier League champions have struck an agreement worth £33million plus add-ons for the 20-year-old.

A central defender by trade, the Uzbekistan international will now undergo a medical ahead of signing a four and a half year contract with the option of an extra year.

He was previously a target for Premier League rivals Tottenham.

Khusanov is set to be City’s first signing of the transfer window and will be a welcome boost given the injuries suffered by Ruben Dias and John Stones.

  • Positive update

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur is back home after his worrying injury during Tottenham's last match.

The midfielder required lengthy treatment in their Carabao Cup win over Liverpool on Wednesday night after falling to the ground unchallenged.

Bentancur was taken to hospital and Postecoglou has confirmed that he suffered a concussion, although the player is now feeling good.

"Good news, thankfully," he told Spurs media on Friday.

"He was in hospital obviously, did all the tests in terms of just checking, making sure that everything is ok. All good, he's back home and he's fine, he's feeling good.

"We'll obviously follow the protocols now, I think it's a couple weeks where you've just got to make sure that everything is ok.

"But thankfully it looks like, obviously, a concussion but nothing more than that. It was distressing, you saw especially Pedro [Porro], he was the first one there and kind of knew it was a distressing situation.

"But I thought the lads handled it well and our medical team handled it well and like I said, thankfully all good."

  • Fight for fitness

Evan Ferguson faces more time on the sidelines with an ankle injury amid his recent absence for Brighton.

The striker has not played for the Seagulls since December 21 when they drew 1-1 with West Ham.

Ferguson has made just two Premier League starts this season and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has offered an update on his fitness.

"Evan is doing OK, not perfectly, but he is doing OK. I think it will take some more weeks until he returns," he said on Friday.

"I hope it goes faster but I cannot say clearly when he will be back, so we have to be patient."

Ferguson will therefore miss Brighton's FA Cup third round clash at Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club this month, and talkSPORT understands he is being eyed by Arsenal.

  • More of Moyes

David Moyes will sign a contract meaning he will be the manager to lead Everton out at their new stadium, talkSPORT understands.

Both parties are aiming to formalise the agreement with Moyes, who will sign a two-and-a-half year deal, within the next 24 hours.

Official confirmation of his return is expected tonight or tomorrow.

Moyes is heading back to Goodison Park 12 years after he left the club for Manchester United.

He spent 11 years with the Toffees and will be tasked with ensuring their Premier League survival this season.

Everton are due to move into their new stadium located at Bramley-Moore dock in Liverpool this year.

  • Problem for Palace

Oliver Glasner has spoken on how Crystal Palace's preparations for an FA Cup clash against Stockport County have been hit by illness.

The Eagles host the League One promotion hopefuls at Selhurst Park in the third round of the competition on Sunday.

However, a number of key players have fallen ill beforehand

Speaking in his press conference, manager Glasner said: "We had many ill players this week, or many question marks.

"Until today [Friday], JP [Jean-Philippe] Mateta, Maxence Lacroix and Tyrick Mitchell didn't train.

"Caleb Kporha trained for the first time today but Dean Henderson went home today, being ill.

"It can be that one or two come back tomorrow, but of course might not available for starting if you're in your bed with fever for almost the whole week, so there are still many question marks.

"But all the healthy players made it quite easy for us because we had one of our best training weeks for months now, even with a small number.

"I'm really pleased with how the training sessions were, and this gives me a good feeling for this three-game week that is coming up."

  • Esse getting closer

Crystal Palace are advancing in a deal for Millwall midfielder Romain Esse, talkSPORT understands.

The 19-year-old predominantly plays as a right midfielder and has scored five goals in 25 games this term.

The Lions ideally want to keep him on loan for the rest of the season.

Speaking this week, Millwall boss Alex Neil said: "If he does move, he'll move for significant money, which from the club's perspective will be brilliant business considering we could have lost him in the summer for free."

  • Bound for the Baggies

West Brom are close to appointing Raphael Wicky as their new boss, talkSPORT understands.

The Swiss coach is set to be the successor to Carlos Corberan, who left the Baggies for LaLiga side Valencia over the Christmas period.

Wicky has previously managed Basel, the United States national team U17 side and Chicago Fire.

He was most recently at Young Boys where he won the Swiss Super League and Swiss Cup in 2023 before leaving in March.

West Brom also spoke with ex-Manchester United assistant Rene Hake during their search for a new manager.

  • 'Spurs have to be ready for Tamworth'

That is the view from Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou on maintaining focus against Tamworth in their FA Cup clash.

He said: "I have no doubt about the attitude of the players. All the boys have a great understanding that every game is important. We go into Sunday's game with the same sort of mindset of making sure that we do things that we can control and a big emphasis on things we do really well.

"There's always challenges out there. I'm sure Tamworth will think it's a great opportunity for them and we have to be ready for that."

On whether the visit to Tamworth will be a shock to his players: "They are not multi-million dollar players. They are human beings who are very understanding. They are good people. Most of them have come from places like that, some worse than that.

"They will go there and respect the fact that Tamworth are going to build it up for the biggest game of their lives probably. And I'm sure they will do their best to create an atmosphere where they will be proud of their ground and their facility.

"I don't really think that's an issue for us. What is important for us is to prepare ourselves for an important cup game."

  • Having a ball

Mikel Arteta made headlines after he brought up the match ball following Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners dominated when it came to the stats, recording 69 per cent of possession and a whopping 23 shots to the visitor’s seven.

However, his side managed to get only three of those attempts on target, leading to him criticising the flight of the ball post-match.

Now, ahead of using the EFL ball again in the FA Cup, Arteta said: "We adapt. In the Champions League, it's different.

"Every ball is different, different flight. It's not an excuse. Every pitch is different, the weather is different."

On what he wants from the January transfer window, Arteta added: "Someone that can impact the team immediately with the performance and bring something that we don't have.

"That can be really hard in this market."

  • Marc his words

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been discussing Marcus Rashford's potential loan away this month.

The Red Devils boss also remained tight-lipped on whether England star Rashford has a future at Old Trafford, saying: "We will see.

" Let’s focus on the game. They [Rashford and Mainoo] are available, they are training and we will see the selection for the game."

On whether academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo will stay at the club amid interest from Chelsea, Amorim added: "Yeah, my players are always my favourites so I want to keep my players.

"It is a special moment in this club, it is a hard moment but I am really happy Kobbie is improving."

On whether homegrown players will be sold to boost finances, Amorim continued: "We need to improve recruitment, so that when we are targeting players we are sure they can cope with the demands.

"Also, we have to improve our academy. Young kids that feel the club in the right way and do some business to have money to invest in the team.

"Our idea is always to keep the best players and to build for this club, but I am really happy and like our players, especially the guys from the academy."

  • Guard up

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn into commenting on his reported interest in Omar Marmoush.

City are seeking attacking reinforcements this month sitting sixth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola said: "I was clear in my answer - I'm not going to talk. He's a player from another club, I'm not saying an answer.

"You can say in every single press conference to talk about the transfer window until the end, I'm not going to answer one question!

"In the past, the same happened. I was clear. You can try it any time you want, no problem at all, but you know my answer.

    "It’s easy. No comment."

City will need to pay £50million to sign Egyptian superstar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, talkSPORT understands.

  • Blue sky thinking

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is next up and the January transfer window is usually a busy month at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been linked with a move for former academy star Marc Guehi, with several fringe stars also rumoured to leave.

Maresca said: "The only thing I can say is Marc Guehi is a Palace player. I like Marc for sure but he is not our player.

"I also like the central defenders we have here. It is a normal situation when you have injuries, but at the same time there is nothing there.

On England defender Ben Chilwell, he added: "Chilwell, for him, he is thinking about to leave so it is better to avoid using him and avoid injuries and these type of things. The plan is to not use Ben tomorrow.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who also worked with Maresca at Leicester, has struggled for minutes since arriving at Chelsea.

The latter continued: "For sure, he has a future with us. Also, because, when you want to send players on loan, it has to be from all the sides; the players, the club and the manager. It is not just about what I want.

"For sure, he has to do that [fight for his place], no doubt. I know Kiernan quite well and he is going to do that."

"Cesare [Casadei] will not be in the squad", Maresca continued. "It's more or less the same situation as Ben [Chilwell]. The plan is to not give him minutes if there is an opportunity for him to go and play."

  • Transfer round-up

Chelsea have rejected an approach from Wolves to sign defender Renato Veiga, talkSPORT understands.

Veiga is keen to leave Stamford Bridge this month to get more playing time.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers is attracting interest from a string of Championship clubs including Middlesbrough and Watford, talkSPORT understands.

No decision will be made on Travers’s future until after the Cherries’ mid-week trip to Chelsea as on-loan Kepa Arrizabalaga cannot play against his parent club.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth defender Max Aarons is set to join Valencia on loan. The deal includes a £7.5m buy option at the end of the season.

Earlier this morning, Manchester City agreed a deal in principle with Lens over a move for defender Abdukodir Khusanov.

Uzbekistan international Khusanov, also shortlisted by Tottenham, is on his way to the Etihad after the French club accepted an offer believed to be north of £30million.

And finally, AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Marcus Rashford having held initial face-to-face talks with the England star's camp earlier this week over a loan move.

As previously reported by talkSPORT, United have accepted they will not be able to sell Rashford this month due to his wage demands.

  • Italian job

AC Milan have intensified their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, talkSPORT understands.

The Italian giants held initial face-to-face talks with Rashford's camp earlier this week and are keen to sign the England international on loan.

As previously reported by talkSPORT, United have accepted they will not be able to sell Rashford this month due to his wage demands.

  • Needle in a Hay-stack

Forgotten Newcastle man Isaac Hayden has been offered a career lifeline to resurrect his career in the Championship.

The midfielder was once tipped as a superstar at St James' Park and was handed a lengthy £50,000 a week six-year contract in 2020.

However, persistent knee injuries curtailed his momentum and Hayden hasn't been a figure under the Eddie Howe regime.

The former Arsenal youngster hasn’t featured for Newcastle’s first-team since December 2021.

The 29-year-old has since been farmed out on loan at Norwich, Standard Liege and QPR - with just 41 appearances.

Portsmouth are now close to confirming the loan signing of Hayden, as the Blues head off competition from Championship rivals.

Pompey manager John Mousinho recently said: "At the minute the balance is fine, but if the right player crops up and we think it’s the right thing to do then we’re going to look at doing it."

  • Alexander the Great

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed Alexander Isak will be rested against Bromley this weekend - but claimed the FA Cup is still special.

Sweden striker Isak was forced off in the second half of their 2-0 win against Arsenal in Tuesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg having scored his seventh successive goal in as many appearances.

Howe said: "We think he's pretty good. He is seeing his physio at the moment. I've given him a couple of days rest, but he is in a good place and will report back tomorrow [when] I will have a good look at him.

"It doesn't look like a serious injury - not from the initial assessments. But fingers crossed.

"We would've probably involved him in this game in some way, but with what has happened, he'd be given this game to rest and get himself right for the future schedule that we have."

On the magic of the FA Cup, Howe added: "It's still the FA Cup and it's not changed at all in my mind.

"The FA Cup was the competition that attracted me to football itself when I was growing up. The knockout competition and the drama it gave was one of the things that hooked me very early to the game.

"The name, the FA Cup, it doesn't change. There's still magic to it."

  • Talk of the Toon

Newcastle are eyeing up a summer move to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, talkSPORT understands.

The 26-year-old only made the move to St Mary's in August after losing the No.1 spot at Arsenal.

But he could be set for yet another transfer with Magpies boss Eddie Howe a huge admirer of the England international.

Rumours have circulated that the Magpies could make a move for Ramsdale this month amid a possible Martin Dubravka exit.

Dubravka is claimed to have a deal lined up to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab, but Howe is desperate to keep him at the club until the summer.

Speaking this morning, the Toon boss said: "Martin has never said he wants to leave. He's been a very good professional. Credit to him because it's difficult for a goalkeeper - when Nick [Pope] was playing, Martin wasn't. He had to wait for his chance. He had to stay focussed and ready. But when the chance came, he came straight into the team and he performed.

"His training levels have always been high. Whatever is the weather, he's there."

"I know how much Newcastle means to him. You can see that. He's emotionally very invested. All those things will play a part in his and our decision-making. And hopefully, there's a successful outcome in the end."

  • Fed up

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has also been discussing summer signing Federico Chiesa - his lack of game time and match fitness.

The 27-year-old was the only new arrival this summer but has made just four appearances for the Reds in five months.

The Italian, who was frozen out at Juventus, managed just 78 minutes across three Liverpool appearances following his arrival - most of which were in the Carabao Cup - before yet another injury.

Chiesa didn't play at all between September 25 and December 18 and his return to the pitch has been carefully managed.

The Italy international finally made his comeback appearance during the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Southampton before Christmas.

The winger has since had to endure several frustrating outings in the dugout and has been linked with a loan move back to Serie A.

Slot said: "Every game is a chance for everyone to get some playing time, it's not only for him been difficult because all the things you said, in terms of match fitness, also that he has to compete with Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Mo Salah.

"Everyone knows the numbers Salah brings, there's not many reasons to bring him out and also he is so fit. He was the fittest player that came in pre-season. And he does everything to keep his match fitness.

"So it is not only about Federico with his limited playing time. He definitely has to deal with the way he came in. The rest were already training a lot and we had to bring him in to get match fitness.

"It's a combination of reasons. Let's see how much he can help us because second half more important than first."

  • El of a player

Another Liverpool player linked with an exit is Harvey Elliott, who has reportedly been shortlisted by Borussia Dortmund and Brighton.

The England youngster was a firm favourite under former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who revealed Elliott's lack of minutes was his biggest regret from last campaign.

However, an early season injury curtailed his opportunity to hit the ground running in the Arne Slot era.

Since his return to full fitness, the 21-year-old has been largely overlooked and restricted to substitute appearances.

Elliott was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in midweek - despite fellow attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai missing the squad through illness.

On Elliott's return to first-team action, Slot said: "He's a talented player. He's been with us for so long. In recent weeks, he comes in quite a lot and gets his minutes, but like it is for him and many others, he's in competition with the other good players.

"He was very unlucky, I think after two games, he got injured, was out for a long time and what I've seen now with almost all of our players that have been out for quite a while that in this league - with the tempo, intensity and the quality we have, the other teams as well - it is not so easy to come back and be at your best immediately.

"That is the balance we have to find, to give them playing time to get to their best level, but still be able to win every game."

  • Drop it like it's Slot

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli — but Arne Slot has poured cold water on any links.

Speaking on being linked to players in the transfer window in his pre-match press conference, the Reds boss said"It's January and I think I said it after the West Ham game, don't disappoint me.

"Please come up with all these clubs and players that are of interest from us or that aren't playing a lot for us going somewhere else.

"That's what's happening now - 99 out of 100 times in the window it's been clear that almost all of these stories weren't true.

"So what can I comment about it? That's the rumours, keep going for it. But no comments from my side."

    Credit: Getty

Liverpool have also been contending with their own transfer outgoing speculation, specifically around Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The club's vice-captain has been the subject of an approach from Real Madrid, which came days before his horror performance against Manchester United.

Slot added: "I do see a certain pattern in the goals we concede, but I don't see the pattern if it is about Trent. Not at all.

"Trent has had one difficult game for us [in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield] and maybe a few that were OK to good.

"Mainly he has had great games when he played for us this season.

"I know there is a lot of focus on him at the moment, but I would also like to highlight the focus on how well he did when he came on in the last half hour [against Tottenham on Wednesday] and how our fans reacted to him, that is what pleased me even more during that game."
