The summer transfer window is shaping up to be a big one, with Xavi Simons likely to be a highly sought-after player.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Pletteberg, Leipzig are set to demand €80m (£68m) for Simons this summer, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all keeping tabs on the Dutch international’s situation.

Plettenberg wrote: “RB Leipzig are still set to demand around €80m for a transfer of Xavi this summer.

FC Bayern (should Florian Wirtz move elsewhere), Liverpool, Manchester United and several others, have him on their radar and are monitoring his situation.

As of now, no official offer has been submitted to RB.”

With Liverpool in the market for an attacker, Simons ticks every box the Reds are looking at when it comes to a potential signing, with the 22-year-old on course to become one of the best in the world in the near future.

And with Leipzig demanding just £68m for Simons, Liverpool might feel like the investment is worth it this summer, with the Bundesliga star ready for the next move in his career, which could involve a switch to Merseyside.

With Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both linked with exits from Liverpool this summer, a new attacker might be needed at Anfield in the off-season, especially one who is on the younger side and can be developed by Slot.

And Simons is a player that Liverpool should consider taking a gamble on, with the 22-year-old attacking midfielder capable of playing in numerous forward roles that could make the Dutchman a star on Merseyside.
