Real Madrid's pursuit of Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken an unexpected twist, after reports emerged that manager Carlo Ancelotti is being pursued by Brazil.
After their humbling 4-1 defeat to Argentina in World Cup qualifying, Dorival Junior's position with the Brazilian Federation is said to be under threat.
Late on Wednesday night, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Brazil were "losing patience" with their current head coach and they are seeking a replacement before the 2026 World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.
Their ideal replacement would be Ancelotti considering his impressive track record in domestic football.
The former Everton manager also holds a close bond with Brazil star Vinicius Jnr, and he holds plenty of respect in world football.
According to Romano, Ancelotti is fully focused on the project at the Bernabeu presently - and will not consider his future until after the Club World Cup this summer.

Should Ancelotti choose to take on a new challenge, in international football, that leaves Los Blancos' pursuit of Alexander-Arnold in a difficult position.
However, should Ancelotti decide to leave Spain, it is unclear whether Real's long-standing interest in Alexander-Arnold would continue or not.
In-demand Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
