Red Bull provide Jurgen Klopp update after Liverpool icon made stance towards Real Madrid clear
Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a return to management at Real Madrid
Jurgen Klopp has been continuing in his role as head of global soccer at Red Bull amid continued speculation linking him with Real Madrid. The German stepped down from his role as manager of Liverpool following the end of last season.
During his time at Anfield, Klopp guided the Reds to Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, Super Cup and League Cup glory. The 2020 Premier League triumph was the club's first title win in 30 years.
However, after some time away, it was confirmed in October that Klopp would become head of Red Bull's football operations, overseeing the company's network of clubs from 1 January this year.
There has, though, been a run of reports in the Spanish media in recent weeks suggesting that Klopp could replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid in the summer. There is a growing expectation that the Italian will depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming weeks.
A report from Brazilian publication UOL also went as far as claiming that Klopp has become dissatisfied in his role at Red Bull and is open to returning to management. But those claims were shut down by his agent, Marc Kosicke, who insisted his client is happy in his current role.
'“I understand that there have been continued inquiries about Klopp from Europe's top clubs and some federations,” he told Sky Sport Deutschland.
“However, he has no intention of taking over as head coach next season. Not even at Real Madrid or with the Brazilian national team.
“Jurgen is happy in his role as global director of Red Bull and has a current contract, so there's nothing more to say.”
And, in an update on social media, RB Leipzig confirmed Klopp had attended the opening day of the Wings Cup on Tuesday. They wrote: “Great to see Jürgen Klopp in attendance yesterday for the opening day of the #WingsCup!”
That update came less than 24 hours after the Daily Telegraph reported that Klopp is unlikely to return to management before the summer of next year – if at all. The report also claims that the 57-year-old's plan currently goes no further than Red Bull and having given himself a change of lifestyle there have been no indications that he is ready to go back to full-time management now.
