Liverpool reassessed their loan players during the January transfer window to ensure they’re in the best places possible for the rest of the season.

As always with temporary moves away from Anfield, some sink when sent out from the club and some very much swim.

This season there has been plenty of swimming from those Liverpool academy youngsters chosen to head out.

One who has perhaps gone under the radar as a real success story has been left-back Owen Beck.

Beck has forced his way into Blackburn’s starting XI under John Eustace, regularly playing 90 minutes for the Championship play-off contenders.

Rousing The Kop understands that Liverpool are very impressed by Beck’s progress this season and are keen to take a closer look at him in pre-season.

But, before all of that, the Welshman has opened up on his time at Ewood Park so far.

At 22, there is very much a feeling that it’s ‘now or never’ for Beck come the summer of 2025.

Ian Rush’s great nephew clearly has the talent to make a good career for himself in the game.

“I feel like the games come thick and fast and they’re really high intensity games.

I’ve found it really difficult to be fair, just preparing for the games, making sure you’re 100 per cent ready for the game even when they come every three or four days.

“But it’s benefitted me really, playing every few days, building that robustness and having to perform 100 per cent every week,” Beck counters.

“I’ve definitely found it challenging but it’s one that’s really benefitted me and I’ve really enjoyed it.”

As well as looking back on his time at Blackburn so far, Beck paid tribute to current Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson.

Robertson’s future is up in the air this summer and there is a chance that the 30-year-old’s steady decline could yet lead to an opportunity in the Liverpool first-team squad for Beck.

Still, the 22-year-old recognises the quality of his position mate, and named Robertson as the left-back he most looks to model his game on.

“I think for me it would probably be Andy Robertson you know,” said Beck when asked for his inspiration as a left full-back.

“He’s been a brilliant left-back, one of the best left-backs in the world for god knows how many years.
