Liverpool face a season-defining few days this week as they prepare for battle in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

After watching Arsenal draw at Manchester United on Sunday, the Reds sit 15 points clear in the Premier League and do not play in the competition for three weeks.

Instead, attention is set to turn towards the two remaining cup competitions.

The chance for a first piece of silverware of the season on Sunday is an exciting one, but before that, Liverpool are in a good position to advance in the Champions League, too.

PSG have been overconfident in the build-up to Tuesday’s game at Anfield and should expect a different Liverpool than the one who turned up – and still beat them – in Paris.

Tiredness is a slight worry, with the Reds looking leggy against Southampton on Saturday.

And with worry over rising fatigue, Arne Slot is reportedly ready to make a change or two.

Slot had been expected to make a raft of changes for Liverpool’s game against Southampton on Saturday.

However, the Liverpool head coach has rarely swapped more than three or four players at any point throughout the season.

That was the same again.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

One who was given a rest was Alexis Mac Allister, who dropped to the bench in place of Curtis Jones.

Jones put in a steadying performance from the bench against PSG on Wednesday and had the chance to further his claim for a start in the return leg.

However, the 24-year-old did not really do himself justice and was one of those taken off at half-time by Slot.

And according to the Liverpool ECHO, the £35m man is now expected to come in for Jones on Tuesday as well.

Only one more change seems set to be in the pipeline.

As we saw last week, the French champions have some excellent players in the middle of the park.

During the away leg, Mac Allister and Gravenberch could not tame them, with the spaces simply too big to cover.

If they can win the midfield battle, Liverpool have a much better chance of going through.
