Liverpool are set for one of their busiest summers in some years with wholesale changes expected at Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk could all leave with their contracts expiring at the end of this season as Darwin Nunez is also rumoured with an exit from Liverpool, with more first-team players likely to depart.

As well as big-name players leaving, some huge signings are potentially in the pipeline, with Liverpool ready to strengthen five positions in the off-season as Arne Slot looks to improve and his squad every further to be able to compete for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League next season.

And Liverpool have now outlined who their top target at centre-back is, with belief growing that a transfer could happen.

According to TeamTalk, there is ‘a growing belief’ that Dean Huijsen will sign for Liverpool in the summer, with the AFC Bournemouth defender one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League as the Reds look to win the race for the teenager.

The 19-year-old only joined the Cherries last year, yet Huijsen has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting talents in all of Europe, with Liverpool seemingly in the lead to sign the Amsterdam-born Spanish youth international.

Liverpool have been linked with Huijsen for some time with the Reds ready to make a big centre-back signing to help with the long-term replacement plan for Van Dijk, who this week was seen talking to PSG’s sporting director.

And with Huijsen having a release clause worth £50m, Liverpool know what needs to be done in order to bring the Spanish defender to Anfield, with the Bournemouth star seemingly up for the transfer after just one year in England.

Centre-back is clearly a position Liverpool are looking to add to this summer with Van Dijk’s future up in the air with Joe Gomez’s injury record once again proving to be a real problem for Slot this season.

Yet heading into the summer, there have been plenty of links to some interesting players, with VfL Wolfsburg star Konstantinos Koulierakis believed to be wanted by Liverpool after a breakout season in the Bundesliga.

With Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato also being eyed by Liverpool, all signs point towards the Reds making a big push for a centre-back this summer, a position that could have done with a reinforcement in the January transfer window.
