Liverpool are set for a transformative summer transfer window, yet those thinking it will be a walk in the park are greatly mistaken.
Jamie Carragher has suggested that Liverpool need at least six signings if they’re to compete for the Premier League next season, with the Reds already set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid as well as other big-name players.
Although some important players look set to depart Anfield this summer, signings are in the pipeline, with Liverpool already in talks with Dean Huijsen after a breakout season with AFC Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola.
However, the Spanish international could now be considering a move to Chelsea despite strong interest from Liverpool.

According to the Independent, Chelsea have taken the lead in the packed race to sign Huijsen, with the Blues eager to secure the 20-year-old defender’s signature before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
As per the report, Huijsen is ‘strongly considering’ a move to the west London outfit, with Chelsea ready to offer the Amsterdam-born centre-back a seven-year contract that could be enticing for the Bournemouth talent.
With Liverpool leading the race for Huijsen leading into the summer, this update will come as a bitter blow for the Reds in their bid to bring the former Juventus talent to Anfield, who has a release clause worth £50m that activates this summer.

Indeed, with Chelsea one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League, meeting Huijsen’s exit clause will be an easy process for the Blues, with Liverpool now potentially set to miss out on one of their biggest targets for the summer.
Chelsea beating Liverpool to Huijsen will feel like a familiar story for the Reds, with the west London side trumping the Anfield giants in 2023 for both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, two blows at the time that felt damming for the Merseyside club.
And with Huijsen, Liverpool need to show why they’re the best team in the Premier League as well as the most appealing by beating Chelsea to the Spanish defender, who might even know deep down that a move to Stamford Bridge is a big risk.
With UEFA Champions League football not even guanreteed for Chelsea next season, Huijsen will be making a big mistake in opting for the Blues over Liverpool, who need to flex their muscle to land the Dutch-born talent.
