The international break is always a nervous time for Liverpool supporters.

Having been stung by injuries to key players so many times down the years, it is always a relief if the Reds players come through unscathed.

With a Premier League title to be won once Liverpool return to action, the last thing they need is to pick up some issues ahead of the run-in.

Unfortunately, that won’t be avoided this March, with Ryan Gravenberch leaving the Netherlands camp with a problem.

Things worsened on Thursday night, when Alisson Becker was taken off injured during Brazil’s 2-1 win over Colombia.

Alisson was subbed off with a head injury having clashed with former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez.

And with Brazil facing a big game against Argentina on Wednesday, an update has been given over the Liverpool goalkeeper.

Liverpool fans will immediately have been worried to wake up and see news that Alisson had been taken off.

The £67m man has a patchy record with injuries and the next problem never feels too far away.

Thankfully, although he will no doubt be left sore following the bang, this is not a knock that should keep Alisson out for long.

According to the Brazilian Football Federation after the game, however, there is a chance the goalie will miss Wednesday night’s big game with Argentina.

Alisson is described as being ‘doubtful’ for the match as concussion protocols come into play.

The game in Buenos Aires is a big one for Brazil as they aim to close the gap to the Argentines at the top of the World Cup qualifying group.

But they may have to do it without their first choice goalkeeper.

As ever, Colombia gave Brazil a good game on Thursday night.

Los Cafeteros are a good side under Nestor Lorenzo while the Brazilian’s are yet to settle with Dorival Junior at the helm.

But Brazil came out on top after a late, late Vinicius Junior goal gave them a much needed three points.

There was Liverpool interest on both sides, of course, with Luis Diaz joining Alisson in the starting XI’s.

And despite the loss, Reds supporters will have been delighted to see Diaz on the scoresheet, as he buried an accurate, low effort past Alisson.

It was the Colombian’s first goal in eight matches and only his second in his last 19 appearances.
