Liverpool might be one of the biggest clubs in the world, but that doesn’t exempt the Reds from being snubbed by transfer targets.
From Aurelien Tchouameni joining Real Madrid over Liverpool to Moises Caicedo snubbing the Reds for Chelsea, the Anfield side have seen their fare share of targets opt to move elsewhere instead of making the switch to Merseyside.
Another player who made such a decision was Joao Palhinha, who chose to sign for Bayern Munich last summer over Liverpool despite strong interest from the Premier League leaders after the midfielder established himself as star with Fulham.
Yet one year on from Palhinha snubbing Liverpool for Bayern, the Portuguese international could now be back on the radar for the Reds.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are likely to be offered the chance to sign Palhinha this summer by the midfielder’s agent, with Bayern keen to sell the former Fulham man just one year after beating a number of clubs to land the 29-year-old.
As per the report, Palhinha simply hasn’t worked out in Bavaria under Vincent Kompany, with the Portuguese anchor man making just nine starts in all competitions for Bayern despite arriving with huge fanfare in the summer.
Once laud by Danny Murphy as ‘absolutely phenomenal’, Palhinha was once a top target for Liverpool as the Reds looked to bring in the then-Fulham dynamo to replace Fabinho, with the squad since evolving massively since these links.

And with Arne Slot landing on a dream midfield pairing in Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, signing Palhinha would feel like a waste of funds to Liverpool supporters given the Bayern man’s age and potential asking price.
It feels like a lifetime ago when Palhinha was once a big target for Liverpool, yet football is an ever-evolving sport, and heading into the summer transfer window of 2025, the 29-year-old midfielder should not be considered by the Reds.
The former Sporting Lisbon star has failed to make the grade at the highest level with Bayern, with the German giants now ready to sell Palhinha just one year after winning the race for the highly-rated defensive midfielder.
Indeed, the mission for Liverpool this summer is simple and one that every fan is aware of, and signing a midfielder like Palhinha would be a disappointing outcome for the Reds given how unnecessary the Bayern star would be.
