Report: Championship club now pushing to sign 'special' Liverpool youngster on loan who made history this week

The January transfer window ends tomorrow night, with Liverpool set to end the market with zero major incomings or outgoings.

Like many years beforehand, the winter window has been an extremely quiet affair for the Reds, with only a handful of Liverpool’s academy players leaving on loan with the Anfield side looking unlikely to bring in a first-team player to help bulk out the squad.

Although Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, the limited time in the transfer market strongly suggests that Liverpool will not look to make any big deals given how few hours remain in the January window.

However, there’s still enough time for one or even two youngsters to leave Liverpool on loan, and Championship side Sunderland are looking to do just that before tomorrow night’s deadline.

According to the Northern Echo, the Black Cats are interested in signing Jayden Danns on loan, with the Liverpool striker expected to depart Anfield before the window ends having featured regularly for Arne Slot’s first-team side in recent weeks.

Jurgen Klopp lauded Danns as a ‘special’ talent with the striker recently making Liverpool history after making his first start for the Reds in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week against PSV Eindhoven.

With Danns wanted by a number of Championship teams, a loan move to Sunderland would be quite the move for the England youth international given how good the Stadium of Light side have been this season in the second-tier.

And with Danns unlikely to become a regular for Liverpool this season with how many attacking options Slot has at his disposal, a loan move on deadline day makes sense for the teenager, who could thrive in the Championship.

Deadline day is expected to be a quiet affair for Liverpool with so little business in the pipeline if current rumours are to be believed, with Slot already ruling out James McConnell leaving on loan before the window closes.

One player who could leave is Tyler Morton, with West Ham interested in signing the midfielder having hardly played for Slot this season after returning from a successful loan spell in the Championship with Hull City.

Deadline day is an unpredictable day, though, and there’s every chance that Liverpool could end the window having completed some good signings and sanctioning progressive loan deals for their top talents.
