Things are going incredibly well for Liverpool on the pitch as Arne Slot continues to imprint his philosophy at the club.

The Reds lead the way in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, having established themselves as one of the most in-form teams in world football this season.

However, the contract situations of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are problematic, to say the least, with the trio’s current deals set to expire at the end of the season.

And if reports are to be believed, one of them could be offered the chance to reunite with former Liverpool man Sadio Mane at Al-Nassr.

Van Dijk has been with the club since January 2018 and has undoubtedly been the best centre-back in world football in that period.

However, with his current deal set to expire next summer, speculation surrounding his future has dominated the back pages.

Van Dijk rejected an opening offer from Liverpool at the start of the season, although the two parties remain in talks and hope for a resolution.

A report from Caught Offside states that Al-Nassr have held talks with the Dutchman’s representatives and are willing to offer him a two-year deal with an option of another year.

Barcelona are also believed to have held talks, while Juventus, Inter Milan and other clubs in Saudi Arabia are willing to offer him exit routes out of Anfield.

Van Dijk has been offered the chance to reunite with Mane in the Middle East and the former Liverpool man will undoubtedly be on his ear to convince him to make the move.

However, the report also confirms the Dutchman is prioritising a stay at Liverpool and will only entertain talks with other clubs if he’s unable to agree a contract extension.

The short answer is no one as there isn’t a centre-back and a leader like him in world football currently.

Liverpool are still locked in talks to renew Van Dijk’s contract and will hope for the saga to end on a positive note.

However, in the unlikely case of his departure, they have been linked with other players in his position.

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo is wanted by Liverpool, although his reported price tag of £80m could turn out to be a stumbling block.

Sevilla’s Loic Bade has also been linked with a move to Anfield as a potential Van Dijk successor, with the Frenchman earning rave reviews for his performances in Spain.
