Liverpool have gotten themselves into an incredibly sticky situation regarding contract renewals this season.
With just over three months to go before the whistle sounds on the 2024/25 campaign, they are still yet to sort anything at all with their ‘big three’ out of contract players.
However, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are not the only players Liverpool fans should be worried about losing.
As their deals expire this summer, the star trio are the clear focus at Anfield and rightly so.
But look just a little further down the line and there are more problems starting to emerge.
The biggest in that respect is Ibrahima Konate.
Come the summer, Konate will have just one year to go on the five-year agreement he penned in 2021.
And as the summer transfer window starts to move into view, Liverpool are already having to fend off interest in the Frenchman.

Given the issues regarding Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold and Salah, Konate’s situation has gone under the radar a little.
But as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract, alarm bells are now starting to blare.

Konate has mostly been ‘incredible‘ this season, with the 25-year-old largely staving off the injury problems that have blighted him in the past.
And according to ESPN, his good form has put him on the radar of French giants Paris Saint Germain.

It’s claimed that PSG are looking for a long-term partner and successor for Marquinhos and have identified Konate as a genuine option.
Worryingly, Konate is said to be ‘keen’ on the move to the Ligue 1 champions, which would see the centre-back return to the city he grew up in.
For their part, Liverpool are reportedly pushing to extend his terms at Anfield.
This is starting to become a real problem for Liverpool.
There is a very realistic scenario where they are left without their two starting centre-backs next season.
Obviously, there is still plenty of time in which to sort out an extension with Konate, but the PSG interest will certainly strengthen his hand in negotiations with the Liverpool owners.
On Friday, Konate spoke glowingly about the Reds and indicated that he sees his long-term future at Anfield.
“I just live a dream,” said the France international.
“I’m really happy to be here and it’s just a dream come true.”
