Anthony Gordon has been on Liverpool’s radar for quite some time, with the England international almost moving to Anfield last summer.
The Newcastle United attacker was strongly rumoured with a move to Merseyside last year as Liverpool just about missed out on a deal for Gordon, with the Magpies pulling the plug on the transfer as well on a separate deal for Joe Gomez.
Heading into this summer, though, the odds of the Reds moving for Gordon look slim to none, with Liverpool instead interested in signing Alexander Isak, who this season has been one of the best strikers in Europe at Newcastle.
However, there is a chance that Liverpool could reconsider Gordon if one player opts to leave Anfield in the summer.

According to the Athletic, Luis Diaz leaving Liverpool could lead to the Reds reconsidering their interest in Gordon, with the Colombian international potentially departing Anfield in the summer transfer window.
Diaz is wanted by FC Barcelona as Liverpool continues to struggle to award the 28-year-old attacker a new contract, even with the £49m winger enjoying his best season yet with the Reds under new manager Arne Slot.
With Liverpool also open to selling Diaz if a suitable offer comes in, the South American attacker could well be another big-name player who decides to leave Merseyside in the off-season, with Darwin Nunez also rumoured with an exit from the Reds.

And should Diaz leave Liverpool, Gordon could be the ideal replacement for the former FC Porto superstar, with the England international once again showing this season with Newcastle that is one of the best wide attackers in the Premier League.
Liverpool-born and only 24-years-old, there’s a lot to like when it comes to Gordon’s profile, even with the attacker making a name for himself at Everton before moving to Newcastle in January of 2023.

Yet as seen by the winger’s stats for this season, Gordon is well on course to enjoy a potentially double-digit campaign for both goals and assists, a level of productivity that could work well at Liverpool under Slot.
Of course, a move would be dependent on if Diaz leaves Anfield or not, but if such a transfer happens, then Gordon could find himself back on Liverpool’s radar this summer and potentially heading back to Merseyside.
