Liverpool’s January market has started to get interested over recent days.

The Reds had looked all set for a quiet winter window with plans being drawn up for the summer instead.

However, as always, Liverpool are alive and alert to any potential opportunities that may come during the New Year.

With fresh doubt over Darwin Nunez’s future, there looks to be a chance that the Reds make a mid-season change or two in the forward line.

The month started with worries that Real Madrid could sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in January.

Although those rumours have since died down, it remains a real possibility that Alexander-Arnold will leave in 2025.

And ahead of a potential Anfield exit for Trent, Liverpool have reportedly identified who they want to replace their No.66.

After so many years of Alexander-Arnold being a fixture in the Liverpool starting XI, it will be strange to see a new man patrolling up and down the Reds’ right.

If Trent does go, then Conor Bradley certainly has a claim to be an internal solution for Arne Slot.

However, Liverpool will also need to look to the transfer market in some form and according to Sky Sports Switzerland, Joshua Kimmich is the man they have chosen as their top target.

They claim that Kimmich is now Liverpool’s ‘priority track’ in the ‘more than probable’ event that Alexander-Arnold leaves.

Also out of contract at the end of the season, the 29-year-old had reportedly been expected to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich.

But it’s claimed that Liverpool’s interest could now ‘reverse predictions.’

The Liverpool owners are said to be reassured by the possibility of bringing a top-quality player in to replace Alexander-Arnold and are reportedly ready to pay £21m in order to sign Kimmich this month.

There is little question that Kimmich would be a capable replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

Although he turns 30 in February – and is a very different player to the Liverpool academy graduate – Kimmich would add plenty to Slot’s team.

However, his age, wages and the fact that he seems likely to extend his stay at Bayern still make this a difficult deal to envisage happening.

As a result, Liverpool will certainly be looking at other options.

Reports have previously claimed that Jeremie Frimpong will be a priority target if Trent leaves and the Dutchman’s profile would perhaps suit the Reds more.

Aside from that Bundesliga pair, though, talk is relatively quiet over a right-back replacement for Liverpool.
