Liverpool have been excellent at identifying young prospects who can become first-team players over recent years.

Just last summer, the Reds nicked Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea and have already seen the 16-year-old make an impact with the senior side.

With the Liverpool owners always keen to look for a bargain in the transfer market, this strategy can be an effective one in saving money whilst also improving the squad.

It doesn’t always work, and examples such as Kaide Gordon’s show that raw talent does not always translate into a future at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, with the upsides being so high, it looks like the Reds will continue down this path.

And as Arne Slot continues in his quest to strengthen the Liverpool midfield, the Reds have reportedly identified a top young Scandinavian talent to be a future starter.

Plenty will view Liverpool’s decision not to sign a new midfielder last summer as a big mistake.

Ryan Gravenberch has done a brilliant job in re-training as a number six, but the Dutchman has been run into the ground.

Gravenberch clearly needs help but will have to wait until the summer to get it.

When it finally does arrive, Football Transfers claim that it could well be in the shape of 18-year-old Sverre Nypan.

Nypan had looked set to make a decision on his future and make a move to the Premier League in January.

However, he has reportedly now pushed that back to the summer instead.

And although Arsenal are said to be Nypan’s preferred destination for now, it’s claimed that Liverpool are ‘determined’ to force their way into the conversation.

The Reds have reportedly been watching the £12m-rated youngster for a while and are claimed to retain a ‘strong interest.’ Liverpool scouts are said to have identified Nypan as a player of ‘immense potential’ and supposedly see him as being a ‘key asset’ to the club’s future.

Nypan has been linked to Liverpool in the past, but it has more recently seemed as though Arsenal and Man United were more likely destinations for him.

Nevertheless, with the door seemingly still open, there is no harm in Liverpool throwing their hat into the ring.

Nypan is clearly a real prospect.

He also has four caps for the Norway U21 side.

A silky central midfielder who can also play further forward, Nypan is tall, fast-footed and comfortable on both feet.

Obviously the competition is set to be big for him, but if Liverpool can muscle their way ahead of Arsenal and United, then Nypan will likely be worth the effort.
