Liverpool are set to improve a number of positions this summer, with centre-forward arguably at the top of the priority list.
Had it not been for the record-breaking goalscoring antics of Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s season would be looking a lot different, with Darwin Nunez struggling for form and Diogo Jota once again proving to be inconstient in terms of fitness.
As a result, the Reds have made signing a striker a big goal for the summer, with Alexander Isak currently Liverpool’s main target for the transfer window despite Newcastle United’s rumoured £150m asking price.
Which is why Liverpool have now made contact to sign another striker who has been rumoured with a move to Anfield for quite some time.

According to the i Paper, Liverpool have made contact with Jonathan David’s representatives over a potential move this summer, with LOSC Lille striker also attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle.
The Canadian international has once again enjoyed a fantastic season with the Ligue 1 side, with David scoring 23 goals in all competitions, one of which was at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool, with the forward also registering ten assists.
Although Daniel Sturridge and Robbie Fowler weren’t too impressed with David against Liverpool, the 25-year-old striker is still one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe’s top-five leagues since joining Lille in 2020.

And with Liverpool now making an approach for David, there could be some movement between now and the end of the season in bringing the attacker to Merseyside, where the striker could be an exceptional fit for Arne Slot.
Isak is clearly the striker Liverpool are looking to sign above anyone else this summer, with the Swedish international enjoying another sensational year in the Premier League having led Newcastle to the Carabao Cup.
Yet if a deal for Isak fails to materialise, David has to be Liverpool’s first alternative, with the Lille attacker ticking all the boxes the Reds are looking for in a centre-forward heading into next season.
With David also available for free, landing the Canadian international without needing to pay a transfer fee will help Liverpool in their mission to invest in other areas of the squad, where positions like left-back and centre-back need spending.
