Liverpool are preparing for a big squad overhaul, with virtually everything on the table for the Reds.
Arne Slot remains on track to win the Premier League title in his first year in England having cracked the code on Liverpool’s previous midfield issues and inspiring Mohamed Salah to what could be the best individual season in league history.
Despite all of this, major work needs to be done to the squad in the summer, with Liverpool expected to make five new signings ranging from a right-back to replace Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold to a new world-class centre-forward.
And Liverpool now find themselves in a battle with two other Premier League teams to sign one of the most exciting youngsters in the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, Liverpool are interested in signing Merlin Rohl, with fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Newcastle United also interested in signing the versatile Freiburg midfielder this summer.
As per the report, Freiburg are open to selling Rohl in the transfer window for as little as €25m (£20m), a fee that Liverpool could leap at with the Reds keen to expand on their midfield options and to bring in young players who could develop under Slot.
Rohl was lauded by the Bundesliga’s official website as a midfield ‘wizard’ after initially breaking through into Freiburg’s first-team squad, though the 22-year-old’s game has developed significantly into becoming a more attack-minded presence on the field.

And Liverpool are now chasing Rohl, who could make the move to the Premier League this summer after catching the eye at Freiburg this season, even after dealing with numerous fitness issues that has kept the youngster away from action for months at a time.
Rohl’s profile is one of the most unique currently out there in top-flight European football, with the German youth international deployed across the central attacking areas for Freiburg yet failing to even score a single goal this season.
Yet this unknown quality is what makes the rangy central midfielder an interesting prospect for Liverpool, and a player that Slot could turn into a sensation if the Reds were to beat Newcastle and Palace to the youngster’s signature.
Indeed, Rohl looks ready for a move to the Premier League this summer, and Liverpool could be the best team out there in the long-term for the Potsdam-born prospect, who could thrive in England playing under Slot.
