Liverpool continued their successful season this week by marching into the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The Reds are well used to this stage of the competition by now, having won the trophy twice since 2022.
Last term, the Carabao Cup served as the final piece of silverware of the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield.
At the time it was won, there had been a strong feeling around Liverpool that they would pick up further gongs in 2024.
However, having come up short in the FA Cup against Man United, the Reds crashed out of the Europa League and surrendered in the Premier League, too.
While there’s little question that Klopp gave his all to win those trophies – and more over the years – members of the Liverpool squad are reportedly now privately claiming that with Arne Slot in charge, they could have won more.

Things could hardly have gone better for Slot since taking over from Klopp in the summer.
Jurgen left his successor with a really good basis to work from but the new Liverpool head coach deserve an enormous amount of credit nonetheless.

And according to The Athletic, some players at Anfield are starting to think that their new boss’ methods are more conducive to winning trophies than their old one.
They claim to have been informed that ‘at least three players’ have privately spoken about the impact Slot’s work could have had on them being more successful under Klopp.

It’s claimed that those players think Slot’s methods could have been useful to help them get over the line where they’ve fallen short in recent seasons.
It is said that this is not to be taken as a dig at Klopp, but rather a ‘marvel’ at Slot’s work and in particular how he is able to ‘predict certain scenarios’ before they happen in matches.
As well as the Liverpool players themselves, The Athletic go on to detail how impressed the wider footballing world has been with Slot this season, too.
“Everyone in the game is so impressed with him,” they quote a director from ‘one of Liverpool’s leading Premier League rivals’ as saying.

“He’s likeable, staggeringly understated and cool as hell.
I thought Jurgen would be an extremely tough manager to follow but this man is handling himself so well.”
This is view is reportedly ‘not an isolated one’ with Slot now said to be commanding ‘widespread respect’ for the start he has made at Liverpool.
While he obviously cannot hold a candle to Klopp’s achievements at Liverpool after barely six months in the job, the signs are there that Arne is very much on the right path, with his own players and just about everyone else.
