Liverpool surprised everyone by not going big in the summer transfer window, yet that could change in January.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all heading towards free-agency, with Liverpool already linked with the likes of Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for one of their three superstar players.
With Liverpool also in the market for a central midfielder, the upcoming January transfer window could be one of the busiest the Reds have ever experienced, with major incoming and outgoings expected at Anfield.
And Liverpool have now seemingly made contact to sign one Real Madrid star.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland, Liverpool have been in touch with Madrid to sign their ‘world-class’ midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who as per the report could be allowed to leave in 2025 for as little as €60m (£52m).
Liverpool’s interest in Tchouameni has resurfaced in recent weeks, with Los Blancos officials not pleased with the France international’s performances this season despite being an excellent midfielder in recent campaigns.
As a result, there’s a real chance that Tchouameni could leave Madrid in 2025, with Liverpool an obvious candidate for the former AS Monaco star given their need for a midfielder and the potential availability of the 24-year-old.
Indeed, Tchouameni would be quite the addition for Liverpool given how long the Reds have hold an interest in the France international, and this update could be the first hint that the Anfield side might land the midfielder at long last.

Tchouameni’s performances for Madrid have been a disappointment this season, with the reigning La Liga champions and Champions League holders enduring a rough campaign after so much hype in the summer following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
And for Liverpool, Madrid turning to Tchouameni as a scapegoat could be the perfect in for the Reds to bring the France international to the Premier League two years after missing out on the midfielder.
At 24-years-old, Tchouameni has plenty of room to grow and to adapt to Liverpool’s style of play,a nd the former Monaco man could become Slot’s first major signing since being appointed manager this summer.
