Liverpool have a number of superstars who are set to leave as free-agents this summer, with Virgil van Dijk amongst the group.
The Anfield captain’s deal is due to expire at the end of this season with the Dutch international now looking likely to leave, with Van Dijk speaking with PSG’s sporting director last week after Liverpool’s loss in the UEFA Champions League.
With Bayern Munich and Real Madrid interested in signing Van Dijk, the former Southampton star will not be short of suitors in the summer if the defender is to leave, with Saudi Arabia also an option for the Liverpool centre-back.
Yet Van Dijk appears to have another destination in mind for when it comes to where to go next after leaving Liverpool.

According to Sky Sports, Van Dijk is in favour of a move to MLS this summer over the likes of Saudi Arabia, with the Dutch defender believed to be a fan of American culture and could be open to a move to the United States for the final move of his career.
With football in America growing with the arrival of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place in the United States next year, Van Dijk moving to MLS this summer could come an optimal time for the Liverpool captain.
Despite being a centre-back, Van Dijk would become one of the biggest names in MLS alongside the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez and Marco Reus, with plenty of franchises in the league now willing to spend big on players who can help attract new fans.

And if Van Dijk is intrested in moving to MLS, the defender will win a lot of respect from Liverpool fans for making the switch over joining a club in Saudi Arabia or a top European club, such as Bayern or Madrid.
As mentioned, Van Dijk is one of three superstars at Liverpool looking likely to leave this summer, with Real Madrid-linked Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah also in the same boat as the Anfield captain.
Yet away from players with expiring contracts, a number of other top names at Liverpool could be set depart, with Luis Diaz’s exit looking like a ‘concrete possibility’ as Caoimhin Kelleher has now appeared on AFC Bournemouth’s radar.
Indeed, this summer is set to be a transformative one for Liverpool, and Van Dijk departing could be the spark that begins everthing for Arne Slot in the Dutchman’s bid to refresh his squad for next season.
