Liverpool didn’t spend a single penny in the January transfer window, potentially opening up the door for a massive summer of buying.
Jamie Carragher has suggested Liverpool could make six signings in the off-season as Arne Slot prepares to overhaul his squad in a big way this summer, with a number of positions already being looked at.
One of the areas being assessed is centre-back, with Liverpool leading the race to sign Dean Huijsen after a breakout season at AFC Bournemouth which has led to the 20-year-old becoming a full international with Spain.
And a defender Liverpool were in talks with in January still appears to be on the radar for the Anfield side.

According to CaughtOffside, Murillo is still wanted by Liverpool after the Reds held talks with the Nottingham Forest defender in January, with the Garlibaldi working on a new deal for the Brazilian centre-back.
Valued at £80m, Murillo is believed to be open to joining Liverpool with the South American talent considered one of the best defenders in the Premier League after an incredible season with Forest under Nuno Espiritio Santo.
And with Liverpool in the market for a new centre-back, Murillo could be an exceptional signing for the Reds, even with Virgil van Dijk signing a new contract with Liverpool as talks continue with Ibrahima Konate over fresh terms.

However, with Murillo as good as he is and Slot settling on a perfect centre-back pairing at Liverpool in Konate and Van Dijk, it could take some convincing to land the Forest defensive unit if first-team football isn’t guaranteed next season.
If there’s one thing Liverpool fans have learned about Slot this season, it’s that the Dutch manager is not the biggest fan of rotating his squad, with Ryan Gravenberch noting that he is tired having played virtually every game for the Reds this campaign.
And if Slot is to stick with Konate and Van Dijk next season as his centre-back pairing, a new summer signing like Murillo could have to accept that they will be a backup player, a role that the Brazilian might find hard to deal with.
Indeed, a long-term centre-back option is needed at Liverpool this summer, but the Reds could struggle to convince a player like Murillo to join the club if the Brazilian will only act as a rotation player in the first year.
