Alexander Isak is set to become Liverpool’s main attacking target for the summer transfer window.
The Newcastle United striker has been in sensational form for the Magpies this season with Isak firing Eddie Howe’s side to the Carabao Cup earlier this month against Liverpool, the Toon’s first domestic title in 70 years.
As a result to the Swedish international’s form, Isak is now wanted by Liverpool, with Michael Owen suggesting that Darwin Nunez could be offered to Newcastle in order to bring down the forward’s reported £150m asking price.
Yet Liverpool offering the 25-year-old attacker for Isak could cause some potential damage in regards to the Anfield side’s relationship with Newcastle.

According to GiveMeSport, Newcastle will cut off contact with Liverpool over any potential deals for Isak if Nunez is offered as part of a potential swap deal, with the Magpies not interested in the Uruguay international at all.
As per the report, though, Harvey Elliott and Diogo Joto could be of interest for Newcastle, with the pair rumoured to be up for sale this summer at Liverpool as Arne Slot’s side look to raise some funds to help bring in the likes of Isak.
Indeed, a number of players are expected to leave Anfield in the summer, with Wataru Endo the latest Liverpool star to be linked with an exit from Merseyside in the transfer window having spent most of the season on the bench.
Yet in regards to Liverpool offering Nunez for Isak, the deal appears to have been shot down before it’s even had room to grow, with the Reds now needing a new approach if they’re to lure the Newcastle superstar away from St.
James’ Park.

Liverpool’s chase for Isak is likely to dominate the majority of the back pages throughout the summer, with the hunt for the Newcastle attacker something that won’t just happen overnight for the pending Premier League champions.
Which is why offering Elliott and Jota to Newcastle could make things easier for Liverpool, especially if Newcastle are already eyeing the Anfield duo as potential signings of their own this summer.
Indeed, Liveprool are ready to sell Elliott despite his age and potential, whilst Jota’s poor performances of late could make the Portuguese international an easy sell for Newcastle, with the thought of having Isak in the attack alongside Mohamed Salah simply too good to pass up on.
